How does a Zamperla Demolition Derby work?

I found a few patents for some of the older (1920s) versions of the rides (crazy daisy and cuddle ups). I posted a few screen grabs from the patents here.

I remember Hersheypark and Dorney Park having PTC Cuddle Ups.

Dorney's was unique as it was indoors with strobe lights. Cosmitron or something. I'm sure someone remembers the name of it.
