Do you ride with you hands up in the air, or holding on to the restraint? Or do you have your own special way?
I hold on on steel coasters so I can concentrate on the speed and sensation of flying, but hands up all the way on woodies to take advantage of the airtime.

Hands up all the way and, mouth going the entire ride, lol. The only time i have ever kept my hands down was on Laser at Dorney because i was a little unsure about doing loops with just a lapbar.

Depends. Sometimes up, sometimes down. Sometimes it's based on my mood that day, some days I have my hands in the air to annoy my boyfriend (who is firmly convinced that failing to hold on, preferably with a deathgrip, will result in being sucked out of one's seat to a bloody death). Kennywood Jack Rabbit, I hold on for dear life most of the time. Cedar Point's Blue Streak, always with hands in the air.

Most of the time I just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. :)

Easy, if your restrain is above your shoulders, arms down. If it is below your shoulders, arms up! I hate fighting OTSRs, so I just hold on to them to keep my arms from getting unconfortable. Anyways, I laugh at people when you see them trying to put thier hands up on a OTSR that is big and bulky like Shockwave's or Demon's at SFGAm.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
TrB,
Ditto for me but I add one element on my ride....lauhging and screaming, "I love coasters...Whoo!" (or some variant.)

I ride with hands up :)
One time on Revolution at SFMM...i had my hands up too high, and on the third drop...my hand hit a big tree branch, I didnt even feel the pain untill after the ride.

Hands up on most coasters, unless it is notorious for head-banging. "Brace for impact" is a good rule of thumb, that way you are ready for those rougher transitions, and get slammed around much less. (Arrow loopers, Vekoma, TOGO)

I hate the OTSRs that completely trap your one arm in between the restraint and the side of the car. a a lot of rides do this to me. And a similar thing happens on inverted coasters - my restraint is too close to the next restraint and my arms get trapped back.
does anyone else have this problem?

I put my hands up on any coaster. If I an lfit my legs up, like on B&M's hyper trains, I do that, but if it's cold and at night, I'll keep my hands down.
The first time I ride a coaster my hands are down, but when I have rode the coaster before my hands go up.

Excuse Me!! I am eating here.
Hands up. On MF I also lift up my feet on the first drop.

Usually, if it is a sit down coaster, i ride sitting down, or if its a standup, i ride standing up! :)
actually, I have a wierd habit of on woodies to put on hand on the lapbar and the other on the horizontal bar right in front of you. I have done this ever since I got onto my first woodie. Anyone else do this

Me too! I'm happy to say that it was always on Flight of Fear. No more problems there!

It depends on the ride. On woodies, hands up all the way all of the time except at certain times. Sometimes on a mega helix, I hold on. On all drops on steel or woodies, OSTR's or lap bars, I also have my hands up. On launch coasters, I usually keep my arms down because of the intense forces on my body at launch. On Hypersonic XLC, I kept my hands up though on the launch, it was great. On loops I usually keep my hands down because there is no point of keeping them up on the loop in my opinion. I hate fighting with OSTR's. I can put one hand up usually but I can not seem to get both hands up at once. Basically on drops, hands always up. On loops and launchs, hands down, and hands up sometimes and hands down other times on helices... (usually up though) The biggest mistake I made was putting my hands up on the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. On the double dip, I had my hands up and I went literally out of my seat and basically was standing up. There basically is no lap bar and I went flying out of my seat. The person next to me was pushed out of his seat also but literally grabbed my shirt and had to pull me back into my seat because he was afriad I would fall out. The next ride, I put my hands down on the lap bar but I still got pulled way out of my seat.... it was intense and great.

Hmmn...enthusiasts riding a coaster with their hands down? That sure is odd...I would have never thought such enthusiasts existed.
Of course, I always ride with my hands up (unless I'm shooting on-ride pics). You get that out-of-control feeling that way that you just can't get while holding on to something. And I'm also yelling and shouting the entire ride; that also adds to the fun.
I hate OTSR's period, and one reason is that they often trap your arm between your OTSR and the next one over (assuming there's someone in that seat). That SUCKS because I can't get my hands up then. :( And even when I can get my hands up, the OTSR still bars me from getting my arms much into the air. :( :(
If I can get my hands up, I'm there...cept for the revamped FOF. Not sure about that yet... but I did hold them up in the corkscrew. Try riding MF with hands up in oct when its REALLY cold outside! FROSTBITE!!!

You should'nt be scared about doing this, I have ridden Scorpain at BGT which has just a lapbar and has a loop, with my hands up all the time even through the loop, It feels great(many other people have done this too) I have also done it on ThunderLooper which was at Alton Towers, again it had just a lapbar, but kept my hands up through the loop.
Personally, I always like to put my hands up especially on Woodies, I even attempted it on Gwazi Lion and Tiger(not an easy task, as this Woodie is fast and wild) but just about made it all the way round, but most of the time, I will ride it on how I feel on the day. Sometimes I just cant be bothered to put my hands up at all and just sit back and enjoy the ride:)
I actually like when there are bars that are easy to grab even if I want to put my hands up. That's why I hate the morgan hyper trains. I'm big and I get thrown around a lot. I actually felt like I was gonna get catapulted out of nitro.
