When I build parks, I like to have the challenge of managing money, but I also need to have all the rides [or most of them] open. I created a scenario with a nice big map, all rides, and $10,000 starting cash. Now... the problem is that it's set to "entrance fee" instead of "pay-per-ride". Why the hell didn't Sawyer just leave it like it was in RCT??
Basically, I cannot seem to make any money at all. I have built a smallish park and the money from admissions up to this point has been enough to break even with the various expansions. However, I have about 1000 guests in the park and the number just isn't going up any more. I need to add another rollercoaster, but I only have about $1,000. I'm completely stuck. How do I make money with just an entrance fee?

My park rating is 900+. I run advertising campaigns almost constantly, but it just seems like they are not helping. People seem to come just as fast as they leave. I'm not sure why they are leaving -- park rating is really high, it's clean, etc... Some were running out of money, but I put in an ATM to fix that problem. I don't have any positive or negative awards for Park Value -- is there some other way I can check it? I haven't built a rollercoaster in awhile and I think that I need one.
The problem with having financial things be more "realistic" is that they only pay ONCE. What should happen is that once a month [because months go by so quickly] everyone in the park should have to re-pay the entrance fee.
EDIT: I guess I answered my own question. I just closed the park, and with about $400 in "NO ENTRY" signs, managed to get all the peeps out in about 15 minutes. I opened it back up and I now have about $6,000 with only 125 people. Life is good!

So, if you have just the part admission fee (no per-ride fees), can you still charge for t-shirts, hats, umbrellas, food, and drink?? Please say yes, because it seems that would be the only way to continue making money (and it'd be *realistic* ... NO park just gives away food and drink and souveneers!)
Can you charge a fee for using the ATM, because that always pisses me off in real life, and I figure someone must be making a lot of money in that way.
BTW: if you absolutely think you need to build a new coaster, save the design of one of your existing ones and then demolish it, and use the money to build a new coaster. Then later when you have made back the money, build the other coaster again, and then you have 2 new coasters that will draw customers. Trust me - it works. I have done it in RCT.
Only 2 more days!

I'd think you'd be able to continue making money if you just jacked up the food and drink prices and put LOTS of souvineer stalls all around. That way they pay big up front, and then keep paying as they stay around (make sure you have ATMs around too). Isn't that the way the real parks do it? ? :-)

Holiday World and Lake Compounce give away soft drinks! ;)
Jack up the price of umbrellas when it rains. While it rains peeps will pay between $10 and $15 for an umbrella. I always put a dozen or so Information Booths and the Gift Stands that sell umbrellas. It works for the original RCT. I hope the peeps in RCT aren't too much smarter, maybe now they check the weather before they come to the park and bring an umbrella from home! ;)

You see things and you say "Why?"
But I dream things that never were, and I say "Why Not?"
I've found that you don't need pay per ride to make money if you use what you have wisely. You don't have to jack up the food prices much, as long as you have a large enough selection to pick from. Keep spending money for free food coupons to draw the peeps in, and gradually increase your entrance fee as you add smaller, less expensive flat rides. Remember with food coupons, you are giving up the $1-2 for the food in return for a $30-50 gate fee. That's a much better trade-off than giving up half or all the gate fee, and you will bring in around the same number of peeps. The other thing is to remain patient when building a larger coaster. You might have to give it a break for a while and add a flat ride or shop just to keep the park fresh and your rating up.

Got Coasters?
I guess I am better then I thought. I passed it (Electric Fields) on the first shot..but barely..Ran out of money 5 times though

RCT2 - The craze is reborn!
You just need to be patient and load the park with smaller, less expensive rides until you draw a larger crowd. In a scenario that is pay per ride, they will pay more per ride than you think. They might pay up to $4 for a thrill ride and up to $6 for a coaster. Just remember that the capacity needs to be good.
