How do i do Kennywood?

Regarding the parking, there is a free lot that is on the same level as the fenced in pay parking. It is to the left of the main lot across the road that bisects the park's first and second level. If you enter the park from Hoffman Blvd and make a right into the park, this lot is on the left. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there is a lot at the far end of the pay lot that is not paid. It is on the end of the park near Exterminator.

When I worked at KW, sometimes the closing times would even surprise us. For instance, we thought it was busy and nice weather in the middle of summer, but was a 10PM close. Then vice versa and was a 11PM close. But in most cases, you can easily guess. The average closing for a weekday is 10-10:30PM. The past few Saturday's have been busy and nice weather and they closed at 11. Sunday's are usually earlier than that.

If the line is long at Potato Patch, try Small Fry, by the water fountain when you first enter Lost Kennywood. They sell the exact same fries and sometimes have a shorter line.

Shorter line = hotter oil = crispier fries...

So I'm obsessive, sue me.... :)

P.S. Hot sauce and bacon bits....it's a pork-fat thing... ;)

P.P.S. Gravy sucks...but garlic is always welcome.

Oh, and ride some rides, I guess... ;)

edit, again: If Kennywood WON'T sell a season pass, would they at least move to "ride sessions" like IB...I'll take the night-time plan, thanks.... :)

The main reason for not having a season pass at Kennywood is to prevent the park from becoming a hangout for the wrong kind of crowd. KW is more of a thrill park than the other Kennycorp properties so it attracts more of the teens than the other parks (IP and LC) do. Nevertheless, it is also regarded as a good family park as well. Given the park's location in an urban/suburban area and its proximity to some less than ideal neighborhoods, the management wants to preserve a wholesome image. This they have done.

The other Kennycorp parks do have season passes. These parks are less thrill ride oriented and have waterparks within their gates. Sandcastle (the Pittsburgh waterpark) also has season passes. As I mentioned before, many families that buy season passes do so to use the waterpark attractions frequently. *** Edited 6/26/2006 1:38:09 AM UTC by Arthur Bahl***

Evening sessions at Kennywood start at 5pm this year, and with a Sandcastle season pass you get in for $7.99.

If they moved to sessions like IB has, it would probably take as much effort as the ticketing system that they recently rid themselves of. There are days I wished they had a season pass, but when I am in line waiting with no kids trying cut in front of me I am happy.
