Having moved, operated and maintained a Gravitron for 8 years in a row, I can tell you that sitting in the middle is an experience all unto itself. True, you don't get the forces applied to those on the outer wall, but man, do you ever feel it when you lean forward or backwards too far in the chair. It definately takes a good equilibrium to operate that ride on a daily basis.

In regards to the failure of the Go button, I wonder if it was an older model that didn't have an internal breaker box down by the operators chair. If so, the op could have easily switched off the breaker in the box, killing power to the barrel.

Rideman: Did you used to move rides for a show somewhere back in the day?

Can you please put a pic up of what your all talking about? lol, thanks in advance.

Gruelurks asked if I used to move rides...
Afraid not. Never worked for a show. I've been informally studying rides...especially coasters...since about '86 or so; formally studying rides and ride safety since '96. Professionally I've been a radio engineer and a professional A/V geek. Never worked in the business 'cept for a couple of weeks on a special project some years ago.

RideMan: That's cool. Just seemed like you had a lot of knowledge of transportables that ususally doesn't come without firsthand experience.

Ironically, I worked for Pugh Shows, based outta Lancaster. That part of OH is a pretty partying town compared to where I live these days! Plus The Godz are from that area as well, double bonus!
