In a recent thread, the writer was saying how big people are getting tossed from Hypersonic XLC. This is frightening for me and Im sure for many others ... How big is too big? and Have you ever been refused to ride because of size?
If you think Im lining up 1+ hours to get tossed at the station and expected to leave quietly .. you got to be kidding. Even B&M recognise big people!

I am very small, I am a male of height 5'5'' so I have nothing to worry about. I weigh 130 lbs. and am big enough to ride and not big enough not to be able to ride every coaster and piece of equipment, except I am too big to ride on junior coasters without a kid being next to me.

If there are proper warning signs at the beginning of the queue that not only state the sphiel about pregnancy, back/neck injuries... etc, but clearly outline the suggested maximum weight limit, there should be no problem or complaints from the 'large' people if they waited over an hour for the ride only to be told they are too large to ride.
I have nothing prejudice against them... but if, and let me stress if... if there are proper warning signs, and the common sense ticker in their head is working, it should tell you that maybe this coaster isn't met to your specifications like a lot of other things in life that are, essentially, made for the "average" person (ie: movie theater seats, bucket seats in sports cars, elevators, bicycle seats).
If there is no sign... well... tough luck on both parties, because I don't wanna be the ride-op in that situation.
The only problem I have with coasters (at least the ones at PKI) is my knees are basically wedged into the car. Literrally, my knees are jammed up into the front of the car. But, if you sit up front (true for almost all rides at PKI) you have a little leg room. Take the advice from someone that is 15 and 6`4. Its a pain in the knees:)

Height is becoming a new issue. I have seen 3 people get tossed from Superman at SFA for being too tall. I forget what the height limit is, but it's around 6'6 or so. It's funny, next to the little stick to measure the kids in the station there is a huge one too!
I'm 6'1" 260 and I never had a prob. I was a little concerned the first time I went on a b&m then when I tried the seat and there was lots of room to spare. I have seen much bigger people than me fit no problem. And what do you mean by "tossed from hypersonic"? Isn't that called "airtime"?

I think he meant getting tossed out of line before you get on the ride because you are too big
People are not getting to ride Hypersonic because they are too big. I saw a guy get kicked out who couldn't have been more than 225 lbs or so. In a total of about 45 minutes I waited on the hypersonic station I saw at least 8 people get tossed from hypersonic for being too big. I would guess that most were under 250 lbs too. It sucks, I felt sorry for them, especially the enthusiasts who traveled a long way and then didn't get to ride.
Ok, I'm getting worried here. I'm about 225 lbs. and am 6'2. I'm not fat or anything but rather I'm just big bodied. I've never been told I am too big to ride anything. How much more picky are they being than compared to normal coaster limits?

6'2" 225 isn't that big at all. If they toss you for that.............

I would think they would fix it soon. (longer belts) People were MAD. I was very surprised when I saw the first person leave. I thought they chickened out! I would like to know how much some of the people weighed. They were not fat at all. The ride was designed in America after all. Americans are BIG!
I assume the ride can safely handle larger people when they install belts, but could we really be seeing a technical limitation? Two things come to mind. Rather than having a weight limit could they have a size limit on this ride unlike others? Also, the air in the back is of an extreme ejector nature I've never felt before, not even in the back of Jackrabbit. Maybe larger folks couldn't safely ride it?
I've just been wondering why the size limits are SO strict. After years of planning the coaster, then building it in Utah and testing it could they really have NOT considered larger folk. I think that would have come up before this weekend when the GP finally got to ride it!
i weigh 210 pounds, and have never had a problem getting on any coaster, with the exception of the mine ride at cedar point...i have to cross my legs when i go on and im still in tight.
I started this thread so let me add that Ive never being rejected from any ride and my small but varied Ride record means Ive never had a problem although I am 5'9" 220 ... however I know about the "BIG" seats on B&Ms like Montu and Duelling Dragons and yes ... I would be EXTREMELY PEEVED to travel to PKD (16+ hours from New Zealand) and not ride ... I hope everyone can understand my concerns ...

I have a question.
Are the weight restrictions an issue that has to do with the restraints? Or does it have something to do with the amount of weight a seat is capable of holding?
Good question, SilverWinds, maybe it has to do too with the compressed-air launch - too much weight will slow it down too much?

It's mainly an issue with the confiuration of the restraint system. I would imagine that the air compressors are quite capable of launching much greater loads that normally seen.
True. :)

I know on PGA's website it mentions that Stealth has a weight limit of 260. I was over that mark, but I fit into the vest... snugly, but without need of assistance.
I imagine PKD should put a sample chair outside the queue with a ride op checking people before entering the line. I have a feeling that I am too big for H:XLC. (6'4" 270 lb.) Lucky for me I have no plans to go to PKD this summer. (if I was planning the trip, I would already be on the horn with Jenny Craig) I do not require the "big boy" seats on B&M's but I do stretch the seat belt to the limit.
Hopefully S&S will re-design the seats to accomidate the "husky riders" like me! I can forsee LOTS of unhappy people at PKD this summer if 225 is the average limit. (of course it depends on body configuration)

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
*Why why why why* don't coaster designers accomodate a 90th percentile of adult sizes? Why?
Togo is the worst for this, but S&S is trying to catch up.
You understand the Togo case though. I havent seen that many 6'4", 200+ lb. Japanese people ... or any Asiatic people actually
