How are the Vu's going this year?

Hey I was just wondering how all the Deja Vus have been running this year. I know last year wasn't the best year for them and I was wondering if they had them up and working this year? Espically the one at SFGAm since I'll be visiting there in 3 weeks.

Velocity

I won't actually being heading to SFGA but I did personally talk to two people who have gone there this year. One of them went about a month ago adn the other about a week ago. They both said it was closed when they went. I just hope it is open when I go. The last three years I went it has been closed.

DV at SFGAm for the most part has been operating. It was down last week with a small crane near the second tower but now that has been corrected.

It was open today and running good. It's up alot more than down.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

SFOG's is terrible. I've been in ATL 6 times this year since the park opened. I went 2 times and it was down all day. The other times I called and they said it would be down all day.

Oh well, it's only the 4th operating season.....

I went to SFGAm once this year and got to ride it. The verdict: boring! The elements are so big that frankly it's not very exciting.

When I was at Great America a week and a half ago, it was down. It was the only coaster that we missed on our 14 park midwest tour. After missing the one at Magic Mountain this past January and not yet seeing it run at SFOG this year, I've pretty much gotten into the mindset that you have to go to these parks not expecting to ride them. Just based on my experience. *** Edited 6/28/2004 3:09:54 AM UTC by Pale Rider***

I also am 1 for 1 at SFoG. (I'm actually 5 for 5 on DV's (and have all 3) once they started opening...)

The only part of the ride that I like is the pull up the first tower and the first drop.

Yep, when we went to SFOG, Deja Vu was closed. Acrophobia was also closed, which was rather upsetting! (It's one of the best rides in the world, in my opinion) But oh well...the other rides in the park were nice (Especially Monster Plantation...gotta love the cheesy little song)

Favorite bands:
Mae, Anberlin, Copeland, Further Seems Forever, MuteMath, FallingUp, Dead Poetic, Plumb

The one at SFMM hasn't been causing much trouble at all. I rode twice within an hour and riders were aloud to pick their own seats for once! Never had realized how amazing the front seat is...

What was up with Acro.? It was down when I went, though I wasn't too too disappointed.

All i know is the one @ MM has been open on every trip...and its starting to become a must ride every trip as well. Backwards drop on Deja is great as well. The entire ride is great.
They are... lousy. Just as they were last year!

Seriously, though... I rode the SFOG version last year and walked away completely unimpressed. What is it that people like about these things? I'm usually first to defend Vekoma rides, but these things are the only ones that I can't find any love for.

And I thought I was the only one that didn't care for them.....

I just like the ride in the front seat. I have ridden it about 4 or 5 times this year at SFGAm only because I am pretty much still in the mindset of seeing it closed or with a long line.

I haven't been to the park since the Coasters After Dark event (which it was closed), but other than the aparent week of downtime reported above, it has been open most of the time.

I've ridden the SFMM and SFGAm Vus. The ride is pretty dull. The vertical drop forward is *kinda neat, but that's it. Boooo-ring.

Struck by lightning, again. They're waiting on the parts to arrive from overseas to fix it.

OK....[rant] Call me crazy, but shouldn't they know that it's going to be struck by lightning....and fairly regularly, being a huge metal needle? They should have the parts there to fix it, because I'm sure it will happen again! [/rant]

I concur. My biggest complaint is the idiotic seating layout and horrid station design. What drugs were those Vekoma engineers on?

This is almost exactly what I wrote about in my Stunt Fall (Movie World Madrid) review. The inclines are fun and different, but the seating is just insane, and the rest of the ride is fairly dull/forceless.

On my 3 SFMM visits this year, closed. Will try again on Friday, so hopefully I'll finally get my Vu fix for the year.

I wasn't impressed with Vu at first when there was assigned seating and I kept getting sat in the middle. But on my last ride last year, requested the back and took the very last car. All I can say is being yanked down that face first verticle drop just kicked my arse! Granted the rest of the ride is just so so, but that first drop is what makes the ride for me.
