How are mythical creatures Medusa and Kracken....?

How are these two mythical creatures related?  I just found this out today and it has something to do with stars and constellations.  I thought it was interesting because they were two names that are roller coasters and no one would think they are related.  Anyone know them?
Yea hey are both floorless too        lol
In brief...

In Greek mythology, Perseus was sent on a quest by Polydectes to cut off and bring back the head of Medusa.  Medusa was, of course, a Gorgon that had snakes for hair, and anyone that looked directly at her was turned to stone. Perseus was successful, and on his journey home came across a beautiful young woman chained to a rock at the edge of the ocean.  The woman, Andromeda, was put there because her mother claimed that Andromeda was more beautiful than the Nerieds in the sea.  This angered Poseidon, so he sent a monster, the Kraken, to terrorize the land.  The only way to stop the Kraken was to offer Andromeda as a sacrifice.  Perseus cut off the Kraken's head and rescued Andromeda, and the two were later married.

Clear as mud? ;)

What's really funny is my understanding of Kraken had nothing to do with mythology until I heard people talking about the ride.

I  understood that the Kraken was a legend of Norse sailors. It was supposedly a giant squid-like creature that attacked ships.

I'm not sure if they got the name from old mythology or not.

Actually, I think my story backs the themeing of Kraken up more so that the Poseidon story does. The queue drawings and sayings go on and on about the beast under the sea, blah, blah, blah. Just seems more "correct" to me.

Although the huge Kraken at the entrance of the ride is anything but "squid-like", so who knows.

EDIT- I went to the Sea World site. It didn't clear up much really:

Named after a legendary sea monster, Kraken is a massive, mythological underwater beast that’s unleashed from the depths of the sea.

Still think it sounds more like the old Norse legend. ;)

Has someone been watching "Clash of the Titans" again?

That's it!  I knew they made a movie of it, and that Harry Hamlin was the star, but for the life of me I couldn't remember the title.  I actually did a quick search on Yahoo for "Perseus and Medusa" to make sure I had the story right and to get the names of the other people.

Your signature...what's that from?  Does it have something to do with the story?

Ahhhh Clash of the Titans, one of my all time favorite movies next to Speed, Sleeper, and Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

It brings me back to social studies last year for some odd reason.

Hahaha... that's freakin' hilarious. Medusa west is in V-Town (Vallejo), home of E-40 and Mac Mall among others, one of the supposedly more ghetto areas of the Bay.

Aaron: Nah, the quote was a random one from the remix to the song "Lights, Camera, Action" by Mr. Cheeks. I *think* it was palying when I made the reply. Often when you see totally random sigs from me it's a reflection of what's going on in my home/office.

Yes, we read "Greek Gods and Godesses, Monsters and Myths" in my english class. When I read the persius story and saw names like Medusa and Kraken, I brought in my on-ride photos from each. Thus, I got extra credit!

How much more floorless can they get?
