Hotels near Six Flags St. Louis?

Hi. We are thinking about making a quick trip to ride the Boss. Can anyone recommend a nearby hotel, or a good area to stay?

Thanks in advance!

Last year we stayed at the Ramada at Six Flags St Louis-- literally right across the street from the park. The lobby, restaurant, etc are in an old, converted barn or farmhouse. The room was very nice, the price was right, the location was excellent. (In addition to being so near the park it was just off the expressway.) We got excellent rates booking online and joining their preferred guest program.
Sorry I don't really have anything to add, but I have a question. How far of a drive from Chicago is St. Louis? My friend seems to think it's about 4 hours, but it looks a lot farther than that to me.

Thanks

We did it in about 5 hours.
I stayed at the Super 8 just east of the Parking lot, it was about 70.00 on a Friday night and it was rather run down. so I wouldnt recomend that, but when you arive at 1045 without any reservations you take any room you can get.

I stayed @ a Days Inn that wasn't to far away that was pretty decent. I'd have to check my files for more info, but I was fine for what I wanted (clean, comfy bed, not far off the hwy)

Thanks all. This is kind of a last minute deal, so I wanted to make sure we didn't end up somewhere really nasty.

If I want see bugs, I'll watch the Nature Channel.

Chicago to St. Louis is about 5 hours. Keep in mind that SFStL is actually about 1/2 hour to 45 min outside of St. Louis.

As for hotels, last time I was there I stayed at the Red Carpet Inn. It's right down the road from the park, you'll pass it on the right on your way in. It was a little run down, but not a dump. It was clean and comfortable, although basic. It was around $45-50 a night. I believe that is as cheap as they get in that area. Have fun & Don't forget to ride Mr. Freeze and Screamin' Eagle too !
