Hotels near Holiday World

I am going to be visiting Holiday World Aug 5th 6th and 7th(woo hoo)(not just HW). Just wondering where everyone else stays when they visit. Do you guys head to a certain town near the park that has like 5 hotel??
I'm just trying to find a place to sleep thats cheap for 2 nights.

There is a Motel 6 that is pretty close, within 5 or 10 miles I believe. Thats where I stayed last year. Its actually a new motel 6, so it isnt totally crummy.

Actually, if you're not planning on staying at Santa's Lodge (right across the road from HW), then I think that Motel is likely your best bet. Even coming from an admitted hotel snob, that would be my place of choice. It is so unlike all other M6s I've seen. Now granted, I havent seen the place since 2002, but it was really nice there. I didnt stay there myself, but dropped in on friends there. Everything seemed fine though.

You may find you need to look south for a hotel room that weekend, as it's Jasper's huge German festival, the Strassenfest.

I wouldn't be surprised if the local hotels are already sold out. Try Owensboro, Ky., or Evansville, Ind.
