Bascially, what I want to know is what are the closest hotels to Dorney. I'm not terribly concerned with price/amenities but all about location, location, location. Do they have any "on-site" hotels? I didnt see any info on any but perhaps someone else (local) would know better.

According to this site, there's a Comfort Suites and a Holiday Inn Express that are both "directly across from Dorney Park." I've never been there, so I can't tell you anything about how good they are, but it looks like they're the closest. Hope this helps.

Just got back from the Comfort Suites across from Dorney. Very nice hotel - all rooms are suites (duh) with sofa, microwave, 'fridge, etc., and an on-site lounge/restaurant, where we actually caught ACE members singing kareoke one night - although I guess if you don't care much about amenities that doesn't matter a heck of a lot.
Along with the aforementioned Holiday Inn it is a short (albeit potentially harrowing) walk to the entrance - across a divided and busy four-lane road with no cross-walks. I'm guessing the H.I. is probably a few bucks cheaper. Me, the Comfort is one of my favorite park hotels, and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

My wife is the GM at the Hampton Inn in Allentown. It's a five mile drive to Dorney. Rates for a standard room for the summer are $99 or $109 (suites are more). E-mail me and I can score you a discount. I've hooked up a few buzzers with a 10 or 20 percent discount this season (based on availability, of course).
In fact we've been toying with the idea of offering a discount coupon on coasterimage.com. Her company has approved it and if enough people took advantage of it, we'd probably be able to expand the range of hotels greatly next year (they have hotels all over) - any interest in this kind of printable coupon?
Drop me a line if you're travelling to the area - anyone, I'd like to help out some fellow enthusiasts :)

When my family went last year, we stayed at the Hampton Inn Lord Gonchar is talking about. It was a great place to stay, and it wasn't that far from Dorney.
