Hotel renting age?

How old do you have to be to rent a Hotel? I know that renting a car is usually 21, but im not sure about a hotel. Specifically one in the Sandusky/ Cedar Point area. Does it vary from hotel to hotel? Im 18, and I was thinking about going this summer with a friend or 2. Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

Depends on where you go. Sandusky has a city ordinance saying 21, but some of the surrounding communities are 18.

Call ahead and ask.

What about if one of my parents actually got the reservation by either Phone/ online, then just didnt go. Would they turn me down once I got there and was only 18?

I've been in your shoes. Choice Hotels usually only requires someone to be 18, along with the majority of your hole in the walls. I stayed in the Red Roof Inn straight south of CP two years ago and had a pleasant stay. You can get a decent rate online and the rooms aren't bad at all. However, it isn't a four star joint.

My advice is to get a Getaway Guide and start calling places or checking them out online to see what their standards are.

One final piece of information: age standards don't apply chain wide. It varies between establishments.

I hope this helps.

Actually, I think Ive stayed in that red roof with my family when we went a long time ago. Its got a pool in the back right?

I honestly dont care how nice/bad of a hotel it is, as long as it isnt too far away. Thanks for the info though, I'll look into it.

Last May some friends and I made an overnight trip to Sandusky. Most of the hotels around Cedar Point require you to be age 21 to rent, but we found a Howard Johnson right at the entrance to the causeway that allowed us to stay. It wasn't the nicest place, but it seemed to be the only in the area that allowed 18 year olds to rent.

There is a list in the CP area that give the min ages.
There ya go, stljason1.

In regards to the RRI, the indoor pool was "in" one of the legs of the "L" shaped hotel.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a place, just make sure you call and ask for sure. The last thing anyone under 21 wants is having to spend an hour or two scouring the countryside for a place to crash. *** Edited 4/11/2005 2:26:34 AM UTC by Neuski***

I stayed at the Days Inn by Geauga Lake many times last year for around 50 bucks and I was only 18 and they gave me no problem.

Before I turned 21, I stayed at a Super 8 hotel on Milian Road in Sandusky and had no problems. I think there minimum age was 18. *** Edited 4/11/2005 2:49:21 AM UTC by CoasterDude316***

Excellent. That list looks like it has all the info I need. I will of course call ahead to make sure before booking anything. Thanks a lot.

You drove to Aurora from Sandusky on the way to PKI?
Now do you need to have a credit card or able to pay cash?

You will need a card to make a reservation, but you can pay with cash upon arrival.
I check into hotels all the time and I'm 16. I've been doing since I was 15 and probably do it about four times a year. It probably helps that I have an extension of my mom's credit card, but it has my name on it. I book online with that credit card, then check in with it.

There always is the slight risk you'll be turned down and have to sleep in a car or something. Heh. :)

Just wondering UBRhino. ;)

We stayed in a place in Aurora, OH on our way to PKI. It's about and hour east of CP. The minimum age was 18. It was called the Knights Inn. It was dirt cheap and AMAZING. The room was absolutely huge and so was the bed. You could have fit an army in there. We couldn't have been happier. I highly recommend.

When I went to SFO the year X-Flight was built, I stayed at that same hotel. It was a little ways away from the park, but you're right, the room was huge. The only problem was, their wasnt enough lighting to light the whole room. Still for like ~20-25 bucks, I had nothing to complain about.

Wait...so will I need a credit card in my name? Or can I just use my parents credit card to make the reservation online, and then pay with cash once I get there?(Assuming the minimum age is 18 not 21)
