Horry County wary of issuing bonds for Hard Rock park without more information

Horry County Council members say more needs to be known about the Hard Rock theme park at Fantasy Harbour before they provide $25 million to $30 million in bonds for the private project, and some say those discussions should be public. Developers are asking the county to fill a 10 percent investment shortfall for the $250 million to $300 million project and offered Monday to meet behind closed doors to talk over details.

I hope that they can come to an understanding on this one, and that the park does go thru. Along with it's 2 seaside parks, Myrtle really does need a major Theme Park that can grow into something of an IoA type of resort, with a citywalk type of experience, hotels, resturaunts, etc.

I hope the project can go forward.

I was wondering what had happened to this project. It had been a while since any news had come out. I am glad to hear things seem to be moving in the right direction. Myrtle Beach needs this, and i don't say it simply because I love parks, but the last time I was there a few years ago, it was a pretty boring time for me. It always just seemed so much more could be done on the entertainment side, because personally, baking myself under the sun is not a good time, I need more to do!*** This post was edited by Chadley 1/26/2005 6:06:27 PM ***
MOTLEY CRUE THE RIDE! Take a ride on the wild side! This could be the best themed park on the planet if they do it right! I nominate GWAR for their mascots!

I just hope everything comes together for them! \m/ (-_-) \m/*** This post was edited by coasterpunk 1/26/2005 11:31:04 PM ***

Heh, coasterpunk, our little fantasy threads come to life. :)

Speaking of which, the early rumor going around is that Tommy Lee is finally doing the "roller coaster" drum solo on this tour (fits the circus/carnival theme, at least) - so we'll see how that one pans out.

Roller coaster drum solo? Do I even want to know?

And do you really think they'd put in GWAR? Family Park...;)

I know now, I just gotta get to see the Crue in Philly in early March! Today I need to settle for GWAR and Alabama Thunderpussy in Reading though!

I just wonder. If Tommy Lee does a roller coaster thing with the drums if I could ride it would it count for my track record? \m/

So Gonch, or Tina, did you get the Motley Crue figures yet? If not what the f are you waiting for?

\m/ (-_-) \m/ funny it looks more like Strong Sad then a metalhead. :) "I don't like food anymore!" :)

Obviously, the council first needs to make sure that they really have the other 90% of the financing locked up. Then they need to check out the business models to make sure that they are realistic. They don't want to invest in Enron.
