Homey G's SFoG Detailed Trip Report! (long!)

Associated parks:
None

I dunno, I always try to catch the mine train at PC, but the one at Six Flags, while not forgettable, doesn't ring true as a MUST ride.

-----------------
Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like bananas.

The only problem with the coaster results when you hit the block brakes. At this point you’ve been in the flying position right at about 2 minutes and change. If there’s any trouble getting the trains ready, you wait in the flying position. The first time we rode, we sat for an additional 2 minutes. Now remember I said you’re NOT getting out of these restraints. It got kind of unnerving and I think if I were stuck in that position more than a few more minutes I might have gone a little cukoo. Most of it is due to the fact that you can’t stretch out your legs because they’re tucked and locked in behind you. The other part is you’re hanging horizontal and after fighting G forces for 2 minutes, your neck is tired so it just wants to hang making the blood rush. None of this affected my buddy much, but I really was ready to get out.

I complety agree with you , when I went to Alton Towers to ride AIR back on March 24th, I was taking my second ride of the day, and when we came into the end brakes, we noticed the train in front of us was still in the station, after a few problems, I ended up waiting 15 minutes on that brake run, and I must say, after 5 mins, it did get very uncomfortable. My neck started to ache, and my legs felt tired. The Whole Train cheered as it was finally let into the station as it was such a big relief.

You know, most of us thought Vekoma were mad when they decided to make their flying coaster loading on your backs sitting down, and being tilted into the flying position at the top of the Lift hill, but techniclly Vekoma DONE THE RIGHT THING, Basiclly if you have to wait on the brake run on a Vekoma Flyer waiting for a train to go out the station, At least you are sitting down and more comfortable than being suspended above a track in the flying positon.

This may sound like a mad comment, but WELL DONE VEKOMA, Your Idea was'nt crazy after all.

Remember, Homey G. If you bring a friend again on Sunday, there is another coupon for April 21 or April 28! :)

Anyways, I was there as well Sunday. I share most of your comments:
-GASM just isn't as good as I remember (1-train operation didn't help either).
-SUF's pretzel loop may not carry the highest G, but the onset and duration of that G combined with the position just may make that one of the most intense coaster elements in the world.
-I've always loved Mindbender, and still do, but something seemed to be missing Sunday, perhaps it is the small amount trees SFOG removed to make the ride more visible from I-20? not sure.
-Georgia Cyclone is amazing in the back seat, and is very smooth, unlike last year. Even with trim brakes on, there is still airtime at the end.
-I will still ride Ninja, but I would accept its removal for virtually any new coaster or flat.
-I regret giving Dahlonega Mine Train a spin, I'd rather ride Ninja.
-Acrophobia is still amazing, however, I wish Intamin restraints would "jiggle", allowing a floating feeling on the way down. I'm not sure if I will ever return on FreeFall.

-----------------
My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

Well, once again I apologize for 1-train operation on GASM. It's really not up to me how many trains we run, and in fact I tried to have a second train added around noon, but it neverhappened. Oh well.

Well, I have a relatively firm commitment for next Sunday (4/28) so I hope to see lots of 'buzzers around the park (and hopefully no buzzards around Viper)...

And I won't even hold you responsible for the single-training, MisterX...:)

Wow... just wow. Thanks!

I HOPE you realize I was teasing with you...I guess I should've used , but I figured as long as you've been around, you'd know I am in a constant battle with some other buzzer to get myself voted "most sarcastic". We've got nothing but love for the ride-ops 'round hyeah...

Also, happy to see the "Griswold scale" being used for coaster ratings...I used a modified version that accounts for wait times...I know it's not particularly fair to the coaster, but I have to give credit for the walk-ons...:)

I knew you were joking yo. Simma! ;)

I'm still gonna sneak my camera on, MisterX.

Here's hoping you don't remember what I look like.

By the way, you had this past Sunday off, didn't you.

Sorrrrrrrry folks! Parks closed. The moose out front should have told you.

Nope, I was there all day, if I wasn't down there, you rode when I was on break!
