Home => Arcade

I've played DDR almost exclusively on a modded pad at home, and I headed to the arcade for the first time, since playing extensively and failed miserably. At home I pass most easy/mid 9fters with C's or D's and I can pass Frozen Ray with a B.

In the arcade, first of all, my PA was abominable. Even on my favorite songs, I was scoring about 50%. I also failed songs which I've played at home upwards of 50 times and can A easily (i.e. Freckles, V for Extreme).

I noticed that there would be times when my foot would just completely miss the arrow I was trying to step on, or it would feel like I was hitting it later than I would at home (as if the extra time to go into the divot was messing me up or something).

Any tips on how to make the transition smoother?

Well, i've played on both the arcade and the home pad. And unfortunately i haven't been able to play well on both. Like i would barely skate through Matsuri Japan on the home pad, but AA it at the arcade.

Yanno, Den may have a better answer. He plays prety well on the home and the arcade.

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
Hmmm, I really don't know what to say. I started in the arcade and then went straight to a metal pad, so I never had to make this transition.

Are you sure your arcade pads are up to snuff? Maybe you *are* timing your steps right but the pads just aren't registering.

I think the arcade pads are okay. The guy before me FC'd Afronova with a pretty good PA. I could also get a really solid PA on some songs with long 1/8th strings (I got about 30 greats on Spin the Disc).

I guess I'll just keep practicing. (or buy a metal pad... :P)

I have the exact same thing. I originally played in the arcade then got modded soft pads and played on them for over a year only going to the arcade once a month maybe. When I do I do so bad and can barely pass a 7 when I beat all the 9's and perfected a few on a soft pad.

Update: Went back and practiced a bit. Doing a bit better. B's on some of the faster 8's. (321 Stars, A for extreme) Still a pretty miserable PA.

Maybe the machine is just set on a higher difficulty level. I know there is one machine I play on sometimes (a 5th mix) on which I get tons of greats... many more than usual. Sometimes even more greats than perfects...
