Holy Land park in Orlando attracts mixed impressions

Posted | Contributed by rollergator

Orlando's Holy Land Experience attempts to bring the Bible to life. Some tourists find it "scary" while others believe it's respectful to Christianity.

I just find it funny that he said this:

I would say the same if Christian's/Muslim's showed up to a gay event with the intent purpose to agitate.

After the whole Glenn Beck thread.

I'll drop a note to the folks that plan Gay Days at Disney - maybe they will take a shuttle bus over for a few hours on a day... I'd like to see it anyway. Coming from a Christian conservative home, it's always interesting to see it with a splash of humor.

Tek! Are you OK? I was worried...

I was laughing too hard to notice if there was any pain. ;)

As a gay man "who identifies as being Christian" (lol), I just think that it would be kind of fun to "stick it to" those Christians who believe that gay people caused 9/11 because of their "immoral" love for each other, or that the earthquake in Haiti is because gay people have sex to show love for each other. The only reason they have those beliefs is because either they are taught that and have no way to think for themselves, or they are scared of something that they don't understand. Some of these so-called Christians should figure out that God does not "hate" anything. God is love.

These people are not my enemy. I love them no matter how they feel about me or people like me.

Oh no. Is this the direction that the topic is going towards again? :(

With flamboyant pink plexi-glass clipboards and pens with fuzzy heads on them.

Personally I would rather see a couple dudes hand-holding with fuzzy headed pens. That sounds more entertaining than the twice daily sacrifice recreation. But heck I've been to San Francisco a dozen times. :) Go to Orlando once to twice a year and have never made it to this park. I have no plans.

If you keep shifting your gears like that, you'll strip em and ruin your transmission!

My mind is just going crazy thinking about future coaster/ride names, if they ever decide to add anything. ;)

A dueling woody themed to Heaven and Hell? Too easy, I know.

I am also thinking of an Intamin launch similar to Ka/Dragster called "Resurrection." ;)

How about a coaster that is soooo scary, it'll scare you into being saved? They could babtise people in the gift shop at the ride exit.

How about a "Second Coming of Jesus" summer light spectacular parade? Jesus could ride in from a cloud on a white horse, just like Tinkerbell does at the Disney Fireworks show. He could also shoot lasers from his fingers!

Or what about a dunking booth in which Satan sits in the chair and shouts temptations at the game-players?

Maybe they should hire me to be on their creative staff. lol

I can imagine the food stands shaped as trees from the garden of Eden... For Halloween they will put Snakes in them....

Don't miss the Talking Burning bush too - That is a must see....

Hey -

Just had an epiphany...

To be truly historically inclusive (according to the bible anyway) and accurate...

They must build...

Wait for it....

Sodom and Gomorrah Land!!! I'll even volunteer to work in it for them!

Anyone want to be my hand-holding, no strings attached boyfriend for a day during a visit to Holy Land? That seriously sounds like amazing fun.

I like to hold hands!

I'm even comfortable with it now, and proud.

I think it would be a good test as to see who (at the park) would be practicing TRUE Christian principles ;) It still it Florida...

Maybe there should be a test at the gate to determine whether you're Christian enough to enter.

I like the Heaven and Hell idea ...one train white for Heaven, and I'll give you one guess on the color of the other.

As for your Intamin launch, I've always had the idea of naming a ride like that "CloudCatcher" But I'll rename it for this park. How's "Pearly Gates Express" sound? I can take the first ride while wearing my custom one-of-a-kind "Pope on a Coaster" t-shirt. The coaster name is whimsical, but I already have the shirt. If this park wants to sell my design, I'm all ears..(even if they don't work very well.)

Actually, I've often thought of a boat ride themed to the Plagues of Egypt...locusts, frogs, and especially..wait for it..RIVERS OF BLOOD!!!
