Holiday World....on a non-SRM day

I've heard lots about Holiday World, but every single report has been in the context of Stark Raven Mad. I'm going for my first time next Saturday. So what kind of crowds should I expect? Is there much to do there aside from the coasters? Is the food *really* that good? Is there anything to do around the park...shops, restaurants? Thanks.
The park is small, but you will easily be able to spend a whole day. make sure you take advantage of all the park has to offer. The lines, in theory should be short to non-existant. In theory. Make sure to check out the water rides, the wax museum, and the doll house, too. the park has a ton of really unique stuff.

Don't touch the watch.
If it's a hot day, most of the locals will go to the water park when it opens (usually 11:00am). I have never waited more than 1/2 hour for Raven or Legend and it is often a walk-on.

HW has a nice selection of flat rides for a park of its size - tilt-a-whirl, round-up, falling star, octopus, flyers, etc.

I have found the food to be better than most themers and CHEAPER.

IMO, HW is the best bargain in any amusement park - free drinks, free parking, reasonable admission (1/2 off for ACE members), and a nice water park (w/free tube rentals) is included with admission. Enjoy

The wife and I went to HW last year on a Saturday (non-SRM trip). We left about 6 am from Chicago and arrived at HW between 1-2 pm. Even given the loss of time we were still able to ride Raven and Legend numerous times (7-8 each). The longest wait we had for any ride was about 45 minutes for The Legend; which, from what I'm hearing was above the norm.

It was funny to hear a lot of the people complaining about the wait times. I wish I could get on SFGAm rides in 45 minutes. I'd be in Heaven.

I can't help with the flat rides because we only ride the coasters.

While we tend not to eat too much at parks, the food at HW is very good.

Have a great time and I'll be looking forward to reading your trip report.

if you go during a weekday, the lines are virtually non-existant, but on the weekends they are never more than an hour.

Don't touch the watch.
Thanks for your help. Paula Werne told me crowds actually are smaller over Memorial Day because there are no company picnics that weekend. I hope I have time to try everything and get lots of rides on the coasters as well.

...oh yeah...I'm already getting a taste of the extraordinary customer service I've been hearing about. I've e-mailed Paula three times with random questions, and each time she's e-mailed back a friendly, humorous reply in less than 10 minutes. Unbelievable.
One other note, don't miss the french fry stand down in the the water park. Some of the best I've ever eaten.

The log flume is also different and interesting. When waiting for the log flume, look for deer grazing under the coasters.
Some tips...

If you're a photographer, take advantage of the
great shots you'll be able to get of the Legend
from the Frightful Falls log flume.

Make the backseat your first ride on the Raven.

Make the front seat yourfirst ride on the Legend...
and ride it hands down!

And be sure to hang around as late as possible, because, as night rides, these two CANNOT be
beaten.

I have to disagree with RobCoasting about your first Legend ride...do it in seat 6.1. You'll be in for the shock of your life.
