Although Holiday World & Splashin' Safari are closed for the season, their parking lot gates will re-open to the public later this month as the park auctions hundreds of useful and collectible items.

“A few months ago, I sent out the word for the staff to ‘clean house,’” says park president Will Koch. “Year to year, we ‘retire’ various equipment and other items. We think our clutter could easily be someone else’s treasure.”

The list of auction items includes:

  • Popcorn cart
  • Assortment of arcade games
  • Disco ball
  • Corn roaster
  • 300 lounge chairs
  • Small children’s ball crawl and crawl-through train
  • Snow-making machine
  • Spinning wheel, steam whistles and other antiques
  • Construction supplies (roll-up doors, vinyl siding, shutters, etc.)
  • Ditch Witch trencher
  • 40’ x 60’ tent top/canopy
  • 19 wall-mounted porcelain urinals

The auction is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, at 10:30 am CDT at the Lakeside Picnic Shelter, which is adjacent to Holiday World’s “Raven” parking lot. Scott Dixon of Dixon & Dixon Auction Service in Tell City will be the auctioneer.

I thought I was the only one who wanted to do that.

^ You guys COULD just buy the Ditch Witch and dig your own latrines... :)

Something else I have done in my "storied" past....can ya believe that "hippies" call them the same thing as the military does? Weird, huh? ;)

haha, actually same here Gonch...

I wonder what the arcade games are and how much they will go for...

I'd take the urinals and combine them with the ball crawl for tons of fun. ;)
I could use a couple lounge chairs for our new pool. Anybody in the area want to pick up a couple for me? ;)

I take it that those aren't the waterless urinals they use at the park?

Man, I'd be first in line for some older arcade games, as I've always wanted to own a coin-op without having to pay thousands for it...

...just ashame that 1) I don't live within 400 miles of it and 2) they don't take on-line bids... oh yea and 3) don't do free delieveries.

Otherwise, I'd be snagging up ny fine share of them.

If I pick up and install a Urinal, then that will get my wife off my back about leaving the seat up! :)

I'm kinda surprised home urinals haven't caught on. It's a great idea! Didn't they install one on Extreme Makeover?
