Holiday World Tips

I'm planning to squeeze in a trip to Holiday World with the kids (who haven't been, now all over 54"!) before school starts. Typically I've visited on the weekend in early August, and I recall that while it was busy, it wasn't terrible. The longest I waited for The Voyage, for example, was 40 minutes. Wildebeest maybe a bit longer.

But it's also been 10 years since my last visit.

I'm hoping to get in a couple night rides. Right now I'm looking a half day Saturday Aug 7th (park open until 9:00) for coasters and flats, and a full day on Sunday in the waterpark (11:00-6:00)

For those who have been recently, in general how are the crowds on the weekends? Still manageable or am I looking at 90 minute waits? Yes, I know, weekdays are better but that will be tough to fit into our schedule.

I went on a Wednesday in the middle of this past June. The one thing that struck me was how busy it was. It was shaping up to be a terrible day for getting a lot of coaster rides in. I was about to throw in the towel and leave but decided to eat lunch at the park. When I got done eating at about 1:00 it was as if everyone decided to leave the park. Turns out they did - they all went to the water park. That left the ride side high and dry and allowed for some great walk-ons and even some re-rides. Turned out to be a great couple of hours before I had to leave to get to where I was going that evening.

I know this doesn't exactly line-up with with your weekend question but I would suspect the same thing happens on the weekend as well. My guess is your half day on Saturday should be decent at getting some rides in.

I went last year during the covid restrictions, and went to the park on a friday. I was very worried when I saw the mass of people waiting to get into the park, but, like Shades said above, only the water park was busy, rides were not bad at all.

They were also using a ride reservation system via wristband that worked out great for me. Got two rides on Voyage, Legend, and Thunderbird. Longest wait was for the Raven at 45 minutes, but, so rough I did not care to go on it a second time.

But, I have to say I loved Holiday World!! Their guest service is amazing, and with free pop any time you want it, makes for a non dehydrated day! They were even giving guests drinks that were not even in the park yet.

I wish I lived closer, I would get a season pass and go there every day. But, it is an 8 hour drive. I live an hour and 45 minutes from MI Adventure and really don't care to go there at all.

I didn't do it! I swear!!
