Holiday World, open this year till Oct. 14th, why not do a Halloween event?

I asked this same question I believe a few years back but at that time, HW closed at the beginning of October(correct me if I am wrong on the closing) a few years ago.

They are now staying open until Oct. 14th this year. Why not have a Halloween event? The park is in an area of the U.S. that can support one without to cold of weather in Oct.

Just stay open a couple more weekends and you are golden. :) I mean damn, you guys are holiday themed.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

HW doesn't have the luxury of hiring a few hundred EXTRAS durring school time. In the fall it's everybodies effort just to get things into maintainence and shut down for the winter. In the spring they barely have time for anything but getting things ready.

Maybe they could do a Vallentines day event, Then they have time :)

If they decided to do that, they would probably have to have the event more family friendly than some other places can get away with.

I seem to recall that they have a Halloween section that is open whenever the park is open so why would they add a Halloween event? I can see them doing one in the semi-near future if they keep expanding the season.

^Why do you think I am asking this question again? If the season for this park closes Oct 14th, they are pretty much halfway through October.

It's almost near Halloween day, just do it. Nike uses that slogan. :)

Because Halloween is on the 31st.

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

The reason is because it costs a lot of money to buy those decorations and in labor hours, to decorate. Is it worth it to be open for two more weeks if you are going to have spend thousands of dollars on people, and decorations?

Indeed, you are wrong on the closing ... we're open the first two weekends of October and have followed that calendar for the past 15 years. The way the '07 calendar falls (with 10/1 on a Monday), this year represents the latest date for us to be open, following the "two weekends in Oct." rule.

If you visit the Santa Claus Museum (I highly suggest it next time you visit Santa Claus) you'll find that HW used to be open much later in the year but according to Mrs. Koch it just never caught on to make it worth their while. Plus with a large portion of their workforce being college kids my guess is that after school starts it gets a bit hard staffing the park.

Yes...we used to be open year 'round, with Christmas our busiest time (back in the Santa Claus Land days). However, the past 15 years we've been open through mid-October.

Santa came to ERT last night and rode with the CBers.

He was wearing red shorts and his hair was pulled back in a tiny pony tail. He was yelling, "Whoa, Rudolph!"

Just one more surreal day working at Holiday World ... :)

I got two rides in with Santa on Voyage, and yes, he was saying that. He also said that Voyage wasn't as fast as his sleigh. All I know is that is was cooking last night.

We got to ride Raven, Legend, and Voyage with Santa. Somewhere between Raven and Legend Santa lost the hat he was wearing and hopefully it wasn't on the coaster. As I stated in the other thread. Voyage at night was insane. What a great ride....

I think Santa said something entirely different on that first night ERT ride on The Voyage, but that's just a rumor. :)

Doesn't Holiday World have a Halloween event every day they're open?

I'm surprised they're open at all this late in the year, especially after the water park closes. Not exactly what I'd call busy, that's for sure.

i heard that rumor too :). I know he did say that Voyage wasn't as fast as his sleigh and "woah rudolph." Just wait till closing day. I was at closing weekend on saturday last year and the whole day, the crowds was like ert last night on the coasters. *** Edited 10/1/2007 12:35:58 AM UTC by spaceace12*** *** Edited 10/1/2007 12:37:21 AM UTC by spaceace12***

When Santa first showed up at Raven, he had a bandana that I didn't see him wearing later in the ERT. I think it was a Harley Davidson bandana. Although I didn't catch him yelling "Whoa Rudolph." Small things like that are what help make Holiday World such a neat park to visit.
