SANTA CLAUS, IN-----The #5 Wooden Roller Coaster in the World will undergo a number of improvements before it opens for the 2002 season.

"The Legend is getting two new trains for next year," says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari president Will Koch. "This will greatly improve capacity on this very popular ride. As a result, we hope The Legend will move up a few notches in next year’s coaster ratings."

Koch says The Legend’s new trains will be manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc. and will be very similar in design to the train at The Raven, Holiday World’s other wooden coaster. Each Legend train will have a capacity of 24 riders, with six four-passenger cars. The train that was used in The Legend’s first two seasons will be sold to another park.

The new trains will cost $400,000, part of a $3 million expansion plan for Holiday World & Splashin' Safari’s 2002 season. The other major project is the $1.7 million ZOOMbabwe, which—at more than ten stories high—will be the world’s largest enclosed waterslide. Additionally, plans include a new food outlet and more lockers in the water park, plus the addition of a shop to sell on-board-photos of riders on Frightful Falls log flume.

The Legend was named the #5 Wooden Coaster in the World this year by Amusement Today, an industry trade journal. Holiday World’s other wooden coaster, The Raven, was voted #1 Wooden Coaster in the same readers’ poll in 2000 and 2001.

Holiday World, the world’s first theme park, will open its 57th season on May 4, 2002. Splashin’ Safari will open May 18, 2002, with the premiere of ZOOMbabwe.

Hmm...could the old Legend train possibly be going to Magic Springs to run on the Twister?
Looks like Holiday World is going for the 1, 2 punch!  I hope my beloved Timbers doesn't get de-throned in its #2 spot!

Please disregard anything said by me that is incomprehensible, incoherent, or just dumb. I am and will be drained from the arduous school year, thank you!
The Shy One, is AK Twister curently running one Gerstlauer.  If so, that could be a likely destination...

I bet they sell it to SFWOA to put on Raging Wolf Bobs.
I never have figured out why The Raven is ranked ahead of The Legend. I love them both. But The Legend is higher, steeper, faster, and longer. So between two excellent coasters, how does the Raven hold its rank ?
By that logic, Son of Beast should be the No. 1 coaster, but alas it didn't even make the top 25.
