Before I continue, I will just say that I was really looking forward to all 3 coasters. They all tend to use their speed really well, which is what I crave.
First was Raven. The park was PACKED but for some reason, no one was riding coasters. We waited about 15 minutes for the back seat. The lift moved REALLY slow, but I could care less. Ride was very good. Did exactly what I thought it would do. 8.5/10 2nd fav wood coaster behind Boulder Dash
Second coaster was Legend. Didn't really like it from the point of views I had seen before I went. Also read alot about how people thought it was sluggish this year. Took the back row after a 20 minute wait. OMG... soo good. Ride was really fast whole way through, with a few minor dead spots. Loved the drop, loved the tunnels, loved everything actually. I hate to see how good it was when it was running at full steam years ago. 9.25/10 2nd fav wood passing Raven.
We then headed towards the reason for living. Voyage. Let me say I couldn't have been more jacked for a coaster than what I was for Voyage. After reading 100's of trip reports and seeing dozens of POV's, I could not wait. The coaster BOOKS! it through the line fly-by in person. I was super pumped waiting in line. 45 minutes and I'm off in the back row. First drop is perfect. Almost as good as Intamin hypers and that's saying ALOT. Hills after the first drop had more than ample airtime. The turn around looked alot smaller in person then on the POVs. The turn around was somewhat slow. The reverse bank was the worst part of the coaster. Didn't do anything for meat all. People on the boards were saying the 90* turns kind of slowed the ride down. I thought they sped the ride up. We get to the MCBR, and I'm thinking, "this is disapointing so far". Triple down comes, it's good but not great. Then over the hill, which did nothing for me, came a straight away and then a right hand turn. Taken way to slow!. Killing any adrenaline from the turn around and triple down. Then the rest of the ride, I have no complaints. Train is booking and cooking back to the station and into the breaks.
Don't get me wrong I really liked Voyage and I really liked the turn around. Just wasn't blown away as much as I thought I would have been. The part that kept it from being king, was the MCBR and the hill and right turn after the triple down. I still give it a 9.25/10 and it was tied with Legend for 2nd. I'm beeing very critical of Voyage, and actually liked it alot more than it may seem.
Went back to legend for another solid ride. Then went back to Voyage for a front row ride. Not as good as the back. Rougher than I was imagining for the front of a train. Night is comming! We hit Legend for a partial night ride. Just as good as previous 2 rides.
On to Raven for a full night ride. First drop into the tunnel is amazing for some reason. Rest of the ride, Ravens flying. Much better than the day ride. Stays at #4 but with stronger holde on it.
Legend in the dark: #((^#$@^&$!! Coaster was hauling the whole way through. Tunnels were fantastic. 10/10. Here comes the tricky part. That Legend ride was much better than any of my Boulder Dash rides, BUT, I never got to ride BD in the dark. So for some reason I cant put Legend ahead of BD.
Voyage in the dark: (_*$@!$^^#!~$@#! Ludicrous ride on Voyage. The way out was awsome with major air. Turnaround was booting it. Triple down in the tunnel was euphoric. Seriously hauling ass the way home. Best ride on a coaster anywhere.10/10 But for the same reason as legend I cannot say this coaster was better than Boulder Dash either. For the record I rode Boulder Dash when it had to be running a 10. It was raining off and on that day and the train was racing through the track.
The second day was spent doing the coasters and flat rides all day.
After riding Legend and Voyage numerous times on the sunday I came to the conclusion that Legend was better. Just because I think its relentless the whole ride, were as Voyage only gets crazy(but crazier than Legend) after the first 5 hills.
Holiday World was extremly impressive. I didn't mention it above but, the service was great, the employees were great, everything was great. I could go into details but everyone else covers it in there trip reports, so I will spare you the details.
If this was a grade 8 level trip report I'm sorry.

At one point I thought No coaster could possibly beat legend. Expecially it's second year with the G train and 2003 SRM.
This year at HWN and my thinking Voyage was a bit too much. I too thought Legend was the better coaster, Just because it ends just at the point where you think you could take no more. Voyage went on for another 30 seconds.
My second visit and after a little self mainenence and I was loving Voyage to the core.
IMHO a bad ride on voyage and legend beats Boulderdash but then again, I might have caught BD on a bad day.

Long live the Big Bad Wolf
Matt- Voyage was running like it has marshmellows for wheels on Saturday morning. Saturday evening, however, it had warmed up VERY well. The ride has broken in very well. I'm happy.

You liked the Legend better than the Voyage?
Why does that sound so hard to believe?
I agree with that.
When I visited, I rode The Voyage... It was big, it was fast, it was out of control, it was intense, and about 2/3 of the way through I thought... "Okay... so aside from all of that... what else does this thing do?"
I rode it a second time and I asked the same question... Aside from being big, fast, out of control, intense, what else does it do? Answer, for me... "Nothing".
Legend on the other hand... I could have ridden that thing all day long. It's rough, its out of control, its fast, it's certainly not smooth in any sense of the word... but with its meandering path, its interaction with the terrain and other rides, its pacing, etc... it's just a more fun coaster for me. When designing the Voyage, it seems like Quantity (length, height, speed) won out over Quality (interesing cousre, great pacing, etc).
It might not be your type ride but shees, People say the DEAD HILL and there isn't onw and this element does nothing but it actually launches you and turns out from under you.
I don't get it, Might as well give the title to Toro, It's gotta be the best because it has three ejector air moments and nothing else. but its smooth to the point wimps can enjoy it.
Chuck, stepping off my pedistal now
