Holiday World Attendance BOOM Question

PatMan, you'll never se me complaining about running one train when there IS one train....very recently at BGT, Montu was keeping a 25-30 minute wait running one train while THREE were in the shed...ONE was being worked on, but I guess the other two were being "saved for a rainy day"....
Well then that would be a poor job by the designers wouldn't it, makin the ride to small to allow two train op.
PatMan, I don't believe the point is that you dislike Holiday World. The annoyance comes in the fact that you haven't been to Holiday World, but maybe even that isn't the problem. The problem seems to be that you post your negative comments in every single Holiday World thread out there. This, my friend, is what we call 'trolling.' I don't like the Detroit Lions, but you don't see me at their website forums posting daily. When a post connected with Holiday World appear, so do you, and it's become quite a nuisance. If you want to dislike a park you haven't been to, fine, but trolling isn't necessary.

One does not complain about single train operation on a single train equipped/designed coaster. A single train design costs less allowing a smaller park to afford it as opposed to no ride at all. The park may have opened before Disneyland but has only been a coaster mecca since 1995. The fact that the park gets all the praise it does seems to indicate that it does "deserve all the credit it gets."

I agree, can Patman.

Funny, I did once because of an inappropriate signature.

Patman, you answered your own question.

HW is "allowed" one-train operation *because* it is a little park in the middle of nowhere. A park like HW deserves a little leeway because it doesn't have billions of dollars in income like the Six Flags, Paramount parks, etc.

Patman, we know you haven't been to HW, but have you ever been to a small, non-corporate park, ever? If so, you'd realize that it's not all about the coasters. There's a lot more to do, from flat rides to great food to taking in the ambiance. And for HW to have all of that that a small park has, *plus* offer two world-class coasters, is amazing.

Once again, Paula, I beg you to find out Patman's address and send him some free tickets. I *guarantee* that he would come back eager to tell us all how wrong he was.

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

The way I play it with small parks is to ride the flat rides that I pass at the major parks. When I'm visiting the big boys I generally only ride coasters, tower rides and a select few flat rides (generally the modern wonders or some by-gone era gems). When I visit the smaller parks I ride everything that I can fit my slightly plump frame into. Recalling the experiences of my youth on the same rides and just feeling like a kid again.

I can't say that I get that same feeling at the mega parks because there I'm mostly concerned with getting as many laps as possible on whatever coasters they offer. The smaller parks slow me down, no reason to run from ride to ride (although I still do it, why is it so far from the Raven exit to entrance). And they also treat you as a guest rather than just some dollar $ign$. Granted you can get this treatment from some big parks, but at places like HW it feels like they really do care. Not just some fancy facade to keep you happy.

I'll shut up now, but I've just recently started visiting the small family owned parks and have had a great day at each one. And I've revisted some and plan to revisit others regardless of whether they build a new coaster or not. I definately can't say the same thing for every corporate park I've been to.

There you have it, Paula....just have Jeff's crew build us a shoter path from Raven's exit to the entrance....now that's what I'd call an "upgrade"...:). I don't know though, if the coaster ride-time (drop to stop) gets any shorter, HW may soon have a "virtual tower ride", at least in terms of duration....LOL. Keep up the GREAT work....which is the "real reason" behind the attendance increase....but don't tell anyone....;)

Hey, Donny--

Will you be at the GOCC event? Looks like it'll just be you and me! Do you prefer front or back seat? :)

Since I have some free tickets to use at the park this season, can I use them and just pay the season pass fee for the GOCC event?

I will be there Paula, barring any business conflicts :)

See you then!
