Holiday World & Splashin' Safari will build the world’s largest enclosed waterslide for the 2002 season, ZOOMbabwe, at a cost of $1.7 million.
ZOOMbabwe, a gigantic purple enclosed waterslide, will be 102-feet tall, making it the largest ride of its kind in the world. It will be 887-feet long, ranging in diameter from nine to 12 feet.
ZOOMbabwe rafts will hold up to five family members each, with hourly capacity expected to top 1,000 riders. Covering four acres, the new ride will increase the size of Indiana’s largest water park to 22 acres.
The park plans to hire an additional 50 seasonal employees for next season and expects the new ride to increase the parks’ attendance by 10 percent in 2002.
How do you think I'm gonna make my millions? I will create a waterpark with elevators and escalators! With PADDING on the floors to make them comfortable! Ohhhhh, I'm gonna make sooooooo much money...coasters and the best thing to ever happen to waterparks. :::maniacal laughing:::

If it is anything like Neptune's Fury at Raging Waters prepare for a dissapointment. The line moves incredialbly slow and the ride isnt all that thrilling, but at 102 feet I am sure it will be very thrilling.

Back to back curves with accelerators in between are definitely a better ride when its comes to rafting rides ... think bobsledding, never a 360 there ..... although the Wahoo Run at Adventure Island has a smokin' 360!!! It's definitely one to try!!!
But a water slide? Totally unexpected.

Regarding the comments about all the stairs to climb...the slide tower will actually only be 60 feet tall. Since it's on a hillside, the start of the tower is already four stories higher than the splash pool. So as far as number of steps to climb, it's 40% less than what you're imagining.
Neverless, it probably wouldn't hurt any of us to ask for a Stair-Master for Christmas! :0)
Thanks for all the nice comments about liking the name. We had about four meetings to work on a name, and right before it was time to vote, someone passed me back the list of African nations I'd printed out and suddenly Zimbabwe jumped out at me. Happily, most everyone liked the idea of ZOOMbabwe.
