Holiday World- A Top Park?

I would definately consider Holiday World a top tier park. The clean grounds, great rides, and amazing staff just result in a park experience that id take over most big corporate parks. Sure, some people prefer big rides and a lot of coasters, but great park atmosphere and employees cant be overshadowed by big coasters in my mind.

(If I may speak for Chuck).....I don't think Chuck is arguing that HW doesn't DO that sort of advertising, I've seen some signs for HW heading in from St. Louis....

I think the argument, or at least the one that *I* would make, is that the word-of-mouth advertising is, well, to be perfectly blunt, infinitely more *effective* in terms of getting butts in the park....do ya think parks have noticed, and that THAT is why enthusiasts are often *courted* by parks.....hmmmmm, something to think about.....

A sign on the highway may REMIND me of the idea of going to a park, or to HW, or even raise the idea of a waterpark in my mind....but when the neighbors RAVE about what a great time they had on Zinga, and they have a bumper sticker on their car, etc., etc., and we TALK about what a fantastic time they had at HW, and how NICE everyone was, THAT, my friends, is when the decision is made, and when the *advertising* is completely unsolicited.....and that WORKS!

HW may never make the Top 10 in attendance, but other than the parks near my house, it's the one *I* have attended the most....

Paula, I look forward to your check....;)

I especially like the Zinga sign right next to Twisted Twins in Louisville.

Like that wasn't planned.... ;)

Rollergater, I could agree more. I think it is the reason why park like HW and KG have been constantely doing better over the years, while parks SFGAdv seem to need a new ride to attract more business.

It is actually funny. I was in line with folks up at SFNE and struck up a conversation. They had said that they have a cabin in the Pocanos and they visit Droney and SFGAdv every year when they are spending a week at the cabin. I asked if they had ever been to Knoebels. They said they never even heard of the park. So I gave them information and wrote down the webpage for them because they were very interested in visiting a new park. That is where word of mouth wrks, but also where advertising could have worked. Had they seen a billboard near the Pocanos (on the Turnpike maybe), they may have visited sooner, and more often, and told friends abou the park. It would have created a new chain of people that would hear about the park, and possibly visit. This is what advertising can do, lay the suggestion in people's minds. Heck, it worked on me, the first time I visited Knoebels was because I did see a billboard when I was on I-80 close to the park looking for something to do on the way home from a camping trip. I have been back several times each year, and with friends.
