Holiday World

Coming from a small town about 30 minutes from Holiday World, we found it hard to believe last year that the Raven was voted #1! But, we loved it. We never seen Raven as that big of a deal. Truthfully, we thought The Legend was a much better woodie. Do you actually think Raven should have been #1? What do you think about Holiday World as a whole?
Holiday World is an awesome park as a whole. I disagree when people say that Raven is the #1 woodie. I myself prefer Legend over Raven any day. But, thats just my opinion.

Burks2005...I don't know how to tell you this, but here goes: those coasters at HW are NOT normal....they're just not. They are maintained to a degree not seen anywhere outside of southern Indiana.....try going to Louisville and check out the wooden coasters there. The difference is amazing. During SRM, we were joking around about how "folks who have HW as their home park just don't realize how great they have it"....thanks for proving my point!

I used to prefer Raven, but the new PTC trains have put me in such a quandary I end up standing at the (Diet) Pepsi Oasis in the Halloween section perplexed as to which way to go....those are two of the finest coasters anywhere, run by the finest people anywhere! (just fix the weather and I'll move up there right away)....;)

Being at Holiday World for the first time yesterday It was amazing how great the park was. It was smaller than I thought but much better also. The Legend and Raven are great coasters not so tall to scare off first riders. I think I would have liked the Legend a little better If I wasn't so sore from football the lateral G's killed my body. The new trains are pretty cool looking. I liked the Raven alot a great ride for little kids and still thrills the adults. I love 3rd drop it really surprises you and gives great airtime in the back. The free drinks are awesome. Holiday World also has a great waterpark. They have some awesome slides. Every employee there that I saw had a smile and was happy. I had no complaints about the park at all. This is a very unique park and I hope they stay that way.

I personally am planning my second trip this year to Holiday World. I was so knocked out on my last trip at SRM. I thought the Raven was amazing, but then the Legend blew me away, it never lets up, it is incredible. I rode Raven and thought, "that was a fun ride", then I rode Legend and was thinking, "wow, when does this ride end?", there was always another curve or drop up ahead. By the end of it I was laughing my head off because I found it so exciting. The lateral G's get to be a bit much after riding several times while the Raven is still very tolerable to reride over and over again. I think that is why the Raven is #1.

The water park is awesome too. They have some great slides, but I think they should add a set of speed slides. Zoombabwee rocks! I can't wait to get there again.

I tell you what... that big chunk of land next to Zoombabwe is SCREAMING for some speed slides.. :)

The Raven at night and the 5th drop. Need I say more. The Legend is a GREAT coaster, but for me, I like The Raven a bit more. I just can't get over taking a one click ride with the seat belt as loose as possible and hitting the 5th drop. If it wasn't for the seat belt, I'd be ejected!

That is alllll........

I agree with everyone here who says they need some speed slides. That is the only thing I think that they really need. This being my home park I do realize how good I have it. :)

What flats do they have at Holiday World if they have any?

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

The only "change" I'd make is to boost the speed on the flyers just a *bit*....hehe.
Teenage Ninja, I will try to answer this as best as possible, but I'm sure I'll miss some. They have a Tilt-a-Whirl, Falling Star, Bumper Cars, Bumper Boats, Flyers, Monster (Octopus), log flume, river rapids, vintage car ride, and I'm sure I missed something. They also have a small children's area.
Teenage Ninja, off the top of my head they have:

Hrubetz trailer-mounted Round Up
Bisch-Rocco Flying Skooters (8 car)
Chance Falling Star
Eli Bridge Scramber
Eyerly Spider
Antique Cars
Bumper Boats
Bertazzon Bumper Cars
Sellner Tilt a Whirl

Two nice kids areas with a few flats (the newer ones seemed to be SBF and Hampton) and wonderful antique train

I agree, Rollergator, those coasters are not normal. They are insane insane, insane, their insanity goes beyond my normal perception of life, whatever that is. :-)

Until SRM this year I had Legend as my #1, with Boudlerdash at #2 and Raven at #3. But I gotta tell you the park put a lot of TLC into Raven into the off-season and it was kicking some serious butt. The first and second drops still deliver quite a punch but the off-season retracking and TLC brought added speed to the second half. Drop #4, which was never anything special, was delivering airtime in spades. And the stretch of track from infamous Drop #5 to thru the woods to the brakes was mind-numbingly insane. There are no dull spots on Raven at all...no time to catch your breath from lift to brakes, and like any great coaster there's not a bad seat in the train.

Raven is now back in my #1 slot, with the absolutely mindblowing Cornball Express debuting at #2, and Legend at #3. CCI proves once again that you don't need a huge coaster or a ton of trackage for a top-notch coaster.

Raven is still my #1, even with the PTCs on the Legend. Same as the rest - the 5th drop and the run through the woods make it for me. I really, really, really like the Legend but it's always the Raven that's my last ride when I leave the park.

Steel - Millennium Force
Generic, isn't it?

I read somewhere that up in Heaven God has perfect replicas of Kennywood, Hershey and Holiday World just over to the right as you come in through the Pearly Gates. For all Eternity, no true amusement park fan would ever need anything else. Anyone who would prefer a corporate park would have been condemned to Hades anyway.

Trekker,

While I can agree with you in regards to having KW, HP, and HW in heaven, I still would like to have CP (or even SFMM) for their big metal creations. C'mon...eternity without MF, Raptor, Magnum? That would be a bummer...

Posting, "Me too" like some brain dead AOLer. I ought to to the world a favor, and cap you like old yeller...

I totally agree with Jeff Finazzo and Eric.walton! That drop before all of the turns is wonderful! Most air I have ever felt on a coaster.... back seat rocks!

Be sure to visit Holiday World. Best park in the world!

My daughter prefers Raven. I prefer Legend. Both are great coasters.

Of course, you have to look at the quality of the poll. The poll run for the Discovery really isn't very high quality. A lot of the voting comes from people who have ridden very few coasters. Also, it is pretty easy to load the voting. The Internet Wood and Steel coaster polls are the best polls as they tend to be voted on by people who have actually ridden many coasters.
