Hmmm Nobody went to great America this year?

I am surprised there are no trip reports from Six Flags Great America this year. Some friends of mine were at the park over the weekend for a special event, and posts photos of some of the rides they went on there. I was surprised to see the new Joker coaster in the photos. I'm curious as to why this ride was not advertised, and I do not recall seeing it listed in the RCDB. If I had known the ride was there, I would have certainly gone to ride it.

They mentioned that batman the ride is getting a little rough. When I asked if they were still giving a backwards ride, they did not know what I was talking about. Though I did see on youtube that they are running Viper backwards. That seems like it would be great fun. Too bad Viper is one of the only cyclone clones left. They also didn't have much to say about Goliath, and my friends said they liked the Superman ride best, tied with raging bull.

I'm kind of jealous of my friends, they have all been to Kings Island, Dollywood, MA, and Cedar Point this year. I have not been to any park since 2012. Though I did go to the Allegan fair, where I rode the awesome supernova ride, and saw Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable guy. Unlike the Carrie Underwood concert, crowds were very minimal. In fact, when we got there, there were only 30 cars in the parking lot!!

As for coasters they all said Lightning Rod at Dollywood was the best coaster of the bunch. They also gave it best park.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I started to write a trip report once, but I stopped mid-timbers.

Why be surprised? You friends took pictures of what they wanted to take pictures of. I can't speak for Michigan's lower peninsula, but in the Chicago area Joker was heavily promoted in TV ads, in print ads and on the park's home page.

....and I do not recall seeing it listed in the RCDB.

It's there; perhaps you overlooked the listing.

....they did not know what I was talking about.

It's old news. Six Flags was very clear that the backwards Batman train would be rotated among its parks.

Though I did see on youtube that they are running Viper backwards. That seems like it would be great fun.

You're getting your coaster news from YouTube? With all the resources available online? Screamscape, aceonline.org, not to mention this very site?

You never cease to amaze, T-R.

Well if your friends went, then someone went to Great America this year.

I'm in utter disbelief that there were minimal crowds to witness the comedic genius of Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy.

Nobody went because it was too crowded.

Or because there aren't enough trees.

The place has gone downhill ever since the chain relocated Lighty the Lightpost to SF Charmland...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I thought there was another water park expansion instead of a million dollar coaster ;)

TR you haven't been to a park since 2012? How do you expect Michigan's Adventure to get that new RMC Giga T-Rex coaster if you don't spend some money there?

But then again, what do I know?

Wait, I know!
It's too expensive.
Everyone uses a season pass.
It takes too long to get in.
It's packed.
Nobody goes.
The rides suck.
The lines are long.
No one rides the rides.
The waterpark sucks.
The waterpark is packed.
The staff is rude.
There's nothing to drink.
Everyone is drunk.
There are no deer or animals.
There's a petting farm.

And I don't have to tell you where you wind up parking.

There.

You forgot:

No trees.

No shade.

There's too many kiddie rides.

If Great America could support a trip report, it'd already have one.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Great America is great. I may or may not have posted a trip report. Not about to wade through 355 pp. of trip reports to find out so am wondering whether there's any way to search this site for reports about specific parks. Whatever, this would have been the year that Goliath opened, whenever that was. I do remember it being cold and raining so that I had to buy a SFGA sweatshirt to keep from freezing and this was in the summer.

Find the park in the database and there will be a tab for Trip Reports.

Along those lines, is there a way to search the database for TR's from a particular author. Like, me, for instance.

I don't believe there is.
