Historic photos of SFGAm

Sensational! Pics like this make me remember the days of my childhood, where all I could really enjoy was Bugs Bunny Land (anyone got pics of the upside-down house?)

Great to also find a Tidal Wave logo as well.. my fiancee now makes t-shirts, and I want a Tidal Wave shirt badly... actually I want the logo's for all the SFGam coasters for this reason.. (anyone know of where i can get them?)

I totally forgot about the Delta Flyer.. brings a tear to my eye.

Wow... that doesn't look anything like the park I went to last year. Not even remotely close.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing!
PKI used to have a sky whirl similar to that, down by the end of coney mall, anybody know what happened to it?
the park looks so much more open compared to now.  did I see wrong or did Rolling Thunder have a vertical loop?  I only started going to the park after RT, Tidal Wave, and Z Force were gone so I have no clue what they were like.  I also didn't realize that the park used to have a chairlift!

Actually, your looking at two different coasters there.  The looping coaster is the Demon.  If you look close, you can see the track before the drop turn in from the left side of the picture.  The angle of the picture makes it look like Rolling Thunder's lift continues to a vertical loop.  It's actually kind of a cool picture.

Great Pics!  Tidal Wave was a special ride.  If it were at the park now, it would probably be somewhere between the 4th and 6th best coaster in the park, certainly more enjoyable than Shockwave, Iron Wolf, or Demon.  In my opinion it gave a better "weightless" feeling than V2 does.
Patrick K..I am the one with the Tidal Wave page you linked to! It was my fav. ride there along with the Demon. Be sure to see these shots of Demon: www.angelfire.com/oh4/tk173/demon.html
And Whizzer:

I don't follow the midways in those old photos at all, and I was even there before Sky Whirl was removed. I hope the Whizzer isn't going anywhere, as some have said, because I didn't get to ride it last time I was there. Heck, I could barely see it in the trees (something the park seems to have more of now despite the development).

Arrow Guy - I like your page.  I remember riding the Tidal wave, it was fantastic and the line was always short...The park as changed so much, that I am tempted to bring my digital camera next time I hit the park, just so I can look at them years from now.  My earliest memories of the park are Tidal wave and Shockwave (The tallest coaster in the world for about, eh 2 days )

Those are some great sites about the Demon and Wizzer.  Looks like that arial of TOTC, you can see where Orbit is now, the ride looks slightly different.  Its also cool to see buildings that have not changed at all.  (Like the fire house or hot dog stand)

I just saw a picture of it in a coaster coffee table book that I just got as a present. The PKI model only had 2 arms. Magic Mountain used to have a single arm model.

Patrick, LOL! Yeah good 'ol GA won't ever be the same, but there's always the memories! That flat ride next to Demon used to be a Himalaya called Industrial Revolution.

ExForceCoaster....you can ride an identical Double Wheel at Hershey Park. I took a ride this year, and it is running great. The barrels even spin!

Man you couldent pay me to ride the sky whirl.  Terrifying in my oppinion, three times as scary as any coaster I have ever been on :)
FANTASTIC PHOTOS man that really takes me back!!!!!!!!! SFGA my home town park those pics really touched my heart. It looks so empty!
same here......the Tidal wave was my first roller coaster ever at the age of ten *sigh* Good ole memories.
The park looks so empty. It's weird seeing Z-Force in the park, where Iron Wolf is now.

And the Orbit looks different. It looks more like the Casino flat ride. Did they change it or am I just seeing things?/P
