Hershey's Trailblazer to get a paint Job?

Maybe the helix near the end would have rotated around 2000 degrees?
Bump!

Comet Rider, inqurining (or just plain bored) minds what to know about those 1,400 removed feet.

Some of you (at least SLFAKE and I) will remember that the year 1973 brought the "energy crisis". Long lines for gas, rationing, etc. This and some other economic factors caused a "funding crisis" at the Park. Probably the only reason that the 'Blazer and Sky Ride were installed is that they were ordered for 1974.

Anyway, there was to be a longer lead-in to the lift hill from the station, and I believe that there would have been another section before the helix. Remember that the whole area was basically undeveloped at that time, with the exception of the Animal Garden. There was even discussion in the planning stages of a second lift hill, a subject which was toyed with several times in the years since. To quote Arrow, "All it takes is money...". Ah, that brings us to the reason for the shortened Trailblazer: Money. With 1973 being such a sucky season, the Park saw a way to save by cutting the length of the ride. After all, it could be added in later, right?

If I get a chance, I'll try to dig up exactly what was dropped from the original design...

Comet Rider,

Are you certain there wasn't more trains at some point? I thought to remember 3-train op and passing by at least one, if not two parked trains, on the way to the lift. I also thought I remember train '5'.

Maybe it was all the chocolate I would have been doped up on at the time....

I never knew of the longer ride concept, but, I do remember that being the 'far corner' of the park.

Yep....must have been all that chocolate.....

Thanks for the correction.....

I also remember people changing seats (as in 1-1 to 1-2) as the train climbed the lift, specifically employees of the ride, at the very end of the night.

Anyone have updated status on the potential/possible paint job?

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

It could have been a train number if the park owned prior trains which have been replaced (just a guess. I don't know enough history about that ride to know for sure).

What I mean is that they originally had trains 1, 2, and 3. Now lets say that train 2 breaks, and they replace it with train 4, then train 3 breaks and they replace it with train 5.

Just a guess. I think the 1-5 (car 5, train 1) is more likely, but I know of parks that have done this keep-going-with-the-numbers-of-new-vehicles idea on log flumes and such.

can anyone give the world an update on anything that is going on at hp?

Floridian

The factory is still making chocolate bars as we speak... other than that, I have no idea.
Dannerman,

I must have been mistaken. I do remember 3-train op, and trains stacking in the 'tunnel'. I would have lost a great deal of money on there being a 4th-train, however.

I now live in Nebraska and miss HP at times. It's a great park!

Whatever...hersheypark is amazing.
Comet Rider,

Doesn't TB have 5 blocks (or had 5 blocks) - station, pre-lift, lift, MCBR, pre-station hold.

I vividly remember seeing trains stopped on the MCBR and thought to remember 3-train op. So, if the second train stops at the pre-station hold, is the end of the train sticking out of the tunnel?

Just curious....
