Where HERCO missed the boat was investing $20mill in partial season attractions rather than putting it toward an indoor waterpark/hotel complex...
Yeah, that's right. But you know, with the golf course expansion area purchased next to the park and the Giant Center, there would be room for an indoor water park and hotel, within walking distance to the park. But, oh well. That land wasn't owned by the park when The Boardwalk was planned. *** Edited 1/22/2007 12:58:09 PM UTC by Arson***

Guess we'll just have to wait until spring to find out. *** Edited 1/22/2007 8:27:41 PM UTC by SLFAKE***
My main beef with the park is that I'd like to see them stay open on the weekends right up until Halloween ala CP. It just seems that they're missing out on some really good days they could be making money while the public was still having fun. Buyouts or not.

Leave the Wildcat alone !! The matchbox car trains are what gives you it's "Wild" Cat so to speak. Besides, it would mirror LR a little to much.
Interesting thought about PTC trains differentiating Wildcat from LR. My personal preference would be to see another “LR-like” coaster experience, because I really can’t get enough of LR (esp. L) when at HP. From a park management standpoint, leaving Wildcat alone may make sense. Besides taming the ride down to potentially appeal to a larger number of guests, I am unsure what incentive there is for HP to make the investment. I really don’t have a sense of what type of ongoing maintenance costs Wildcat carries. If Millennium Flyer trains can save in retracking costs, they’d be more apt to do it, perhaps.
Anyone have an idea what the component cost of a Millennium Flyer train might be, as part of an overall GCII project? *** Edited 1/23/2007 10:55:38 AM UTC by ParkerP***

Another option would be to just take 2 of the Lightning Racer trains, and slap 'em on Wildcat! As it is, I don't know the last time I've seen all 4 trains running... only ever 2 (one on each side for a total of 2, to be precise) If that is the case, they wouldn't really be missing too much, and would actually get more use out of the trains this way.
Regardless if they buy new or use their existing trains, it would help save money in parts costs -- you could buy parts in more quantity and thus most likely save costs. Not to mention you only have to stock parts for one style of train instead of 2.
Then there's the fact that the lighter train won't be as merciless on the structure, which will also save costs in the long run.
Either way, I say go for it! :)
The PTCs, shoot, there's lots of rides running G-trains that could use something infinitely better...Cheetah strikes close to home... :)
I'd hate to see them move 2 of the LR trains to Wildcat because even though they don't run 4 trains on LR often enough, there are times it's definetly needed like at Springtime in the Park when the line was close to 45 minutes with 4 trains running.
My company held their picnic at Hershey this summer, and I heard a lot of people (definite GP types) complaining about how rough Wildcat was compared to the other coasters. I know I mentioned it to a couple of ops myself.
Those trains are more than just comfortable as heck...they ARE in fact, an investment in the coaster itself.
Too many MFlyers...hehe. Yeah... ;)

How do you know this as fact?
"Those who know, don't talk. Those who talk, don't know."
Even *if* I were to discount what Comet Rider is saying (which I'm not, LOL), ALL of the news from NCC and out of "the shop in Sunbury" points in that same direction.
The ONLY bad news...is that there's ONLY two "extra" MFlyers this year...(whistling past the graveyard in Mason)...and since there's no PTCs forthcoming, that's NOT good news for Sonny... ;)
Edit: Don't misunderstand me - I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm wondering how you know this, since nothing has been confirmed officially, and the Flyers on Wildcat rumor has been circulating for a couple years now. Generally, people who know don't talk, and thus this could be a guess/shot-in-the-dark just so you have something to go back to later and say "I told you so" and look cool, when it was actually just a good, educated, guess. So rather than get defensive, why not just enlighten those of us who are unfortunate to not be cool enough to get this information already as to where you came across this factual information?

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger
I think it's a mistake not having any coasters open for Christmas Candylane. There is no reason Sooperdooperlooper and Trailblazer can't be open as neither go that fast and I think those 2 coasters are good choices to open because they usually decorate the Comet's lift hill and Midway America is never open then. They could even say it has to be a certain temperature to run the way SDC and Dollywood have it for their coasters.
It just doesn't seem worth it to me to drive almost 2 hours to go to that event without any coasters. *** Edited 2/3/2007 9:56:23 PM UTC by YoshiFan***
dannerman....let's say CR *did* tell us where he came across this information (which, after hearing MORE this weekend, I'm considering as *fact*). THEN, he'd be jeopardizing his source, and possibly getting his source in trouble...getting your sources in hot water (or hot cocoa in this case) is NOT a good way to keep them talking...LOL! ;)
P.S. Until I ride Maverick, and quite possibly after that, SR is far-and-away the best full-circuit launch coaster in N. America...SWEEEEEEEEET! :)
