Hershey's Great Bear

Tell me about the Great Bear in Detail. Is it fun? Is it good? Is the coaster in a good location? What are some of the elements like? Why is there a turn before the big drop? Tell me all you know about the Great Bear.

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

Well Userx is nothing if not entertaining ... I got in before close!

Entertaining to say the least. Got my 2 cents in. lol

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth. Trip pics are here: http://www.pbase.com/jhbd99.
I think its pretty!

edit: yay! in before close. Boy, Userx, you need to study the TOS, I just looked at your first posts, and you've yet to learn the ropes round here! *** Edited 3/24/2004 10:03:46 PM UTC by TeknoScorpion***

It is fun. It is good. It is in a good location. They're fun. Because they needed it.

There...he got all his questions answered!

Peabody, I think it's fun too. And I think it's good. Do you think it's really good? I think it might be really good but I don't know if it's really good because no one else told me enough about it. It could be really fun but it would it have to be really good in order to be really fun? You tell me.

Actually, the funny thing is...This is really fun and really good. What does everyone think? Can it be really fun and really good? Post what you think.

I never had a chance to ride but I hear mixed reviews. Some say the ending is lackluster, some rave about the beginning helix and the way it intertwines with other rides.

The funnest part is the bad grammar.

In before close.

UserX, you may want to check this site out if you have specific questions about how people like rides.

I love Great Bear, especially the twist-n-dive towards the lake.....sweet! The helix isn't too shabby either........there's my two cents. ;-)

It's pretty to look at. And it's a fun ride, close calls with SuperDooperLooper too.

>In before the close.<

Weight lost to ride more coasters......90lbs
Wow, open all evening and still no close? Jeff, I'm shocked at your Non Nazi-esqness;)
He is asking for our opinions on a ride. How is that a violation of the TOS?

Fate is the path of least resistance.

The helix before the drop is bizzare, the drop is decent, the vertical loop and diving loop combo is the highlight of the ride, and the ending sucks. Overall a good coaster, but you shouldnt be going to HP to ride Great Bear, you should be going there to ride the trio of GCIs the park has. Great Bear is a bonus.

It's a very underrated ride. I thought it was better then the other invert in Pennsylvania. The helix is fun and I like how it goes over the water. While it might not be the best coaster at Hersheypark, it's still a fun ride.

Anytime I get to ride a Beema that doesn't have *the same layout*, then I'm excited...and Great Bear is one of the FEW B&M inverts featuring a *unique* layout...

Why do ya think I have SOOO much love for Fire Dragon...:)

Still, the best part about ANY ride at Hershey....the smells...:)

bill, LOVES the speed run over the water...being RIGHT next to an Anton don't hurt none neither...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

the helix before the drop was put there because of a lack of land right? the new b&M floorless has one as well. daemonen

Bill, I'm right there with ya, I love the speed run over the water, too. That, to me, is the most unexpected part of the ride. Also, I'm a HUGE fan of straight track on a coaster. Great Bear, Roar, S:RoS, Kumba...all of them have excellent sections of straight 'speed' track.
don't forget about the straight track on Dueling dragons, several on fire.

where is it on kumba, i was thinking of the ride layout but I am having a brain fart.
