Hersheypark is removing the popular Roller Soaker in the Boardwalk section to make way for a 5,000-square-foot sprayground.

another needlessly untrimmed quote removed. -J
Lord, I'm very glad you pointed all of that out. Speaking for myself (which is I'm sure who it was aimed at), I'm not quite grown up enough yet to know what any of it meant, but man it sure sounded cool !
I do find it strange that this would be considered a "non enthusiast-y" type site ... I mean not to quibble with you (there's been enough of that), but what else would it be ?? I'm interested in tornadoes, flood control dams, the Sasquatch and even the flying spaghetti monster, but I don't get on internet forums and go toe to toe with the resident experts about them praying that someone won't torch and bury me in a debate.

The food and the shows there weren't good either. (The Milkmen were ok. That's a show, not a food)
Were they Dead?
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

Stew, you have no idea. Take your hand, flatten it out horizontally and swipe it over your head. Ask anyone who posts here regularly if they know Superstew, and they will say, "Who"? Who participates in the discussion more?
Again, maybe you do not belong here. We can all disagree with each other without being jerks or attention-seeking trolls. Your use of the quote feature alone shows me that you don't understand how to post on CoasterBuzz.
Why does the offseason bring out the weirdos? If your reaction was more like this:
Is the park cluttered ?? Maybe to you it is. I happen to like rides towering over other rides. I like the creek running through the middle. I love all the walkways, stairways, inclines, hilly terrain and bridges. I love the over all size of the place and how they've grown into the space available. They've made the most of their room and it's been a marvel .... in my opinion of course.
The water park on the other hand ?? I agree with you on that. Not a fan of the location and would have much rather seen it as a separate attraction outside the park in like Soak City.
and less like this:
I find it funny how most of the whining and sniveling you hear about the layout being terrible, is coming from the the so-called enthusiasts. What's even more ironic, is that those very people are no doubt the same ones who are just plain too lazy or too out of shape to do anything except sit on their couch, click the remote control and complain about every stupid, little thing they can come up with...And sorry to break this to those in denial ... if your name isn't Hershey park and/or are not associated with them, Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Anheuser Busch or Disney, you're nothing but a distant second !
we would still be adding to the discussion of Hersheypark's layout and not about how much of a jerk we all are.
In other words, most of us here are all mature enough to hear your opinion on the subject, and accept that it differs from our own, without resorting to generalizations and insinuated name-calling. You don't have to be a jerk to get your point across.
Sometimes I have to say this... We are all friends, standing in a circle, having a discussion about roller coasters. If you wouldn't say it in person to your friends of whom you may disagree with, you probably shouldn't say it here.

Double post! Sorry! :)
Mike, The Milkmen show is really good. I highly recommend it. It's probably not as good as seeing a live band play "Punk Rock Girl" though.

This is how you know we hit a milestone. ;)

I know Stew is going to turn this around on me and how much a nerd I am (while in the same sentence, claiming enthusiast cred for being a regular around here and at the same time bashing enthusiasts for being self-important) but a quick look at his profile shows 105 total posts, the most recent of which outside of this thread has not been active since March 4th, 2011. I'd hesitate to call that a regular.

Hell, I don't even care if you're a regular.
The first clue that someone doesn't have a leg to stand on is when the attck turns personal.
And when your argument is nothing more than personal attacks to begin with...meh.
At this point the line of logic is pretty much, "Hershey's layout doesn't suck because you're a fat, lazy enthusiast who thinks too highly of his own opinion."
I can easily refute that with, "Hershey's layout does suck because dump truck."
My argument not only makes more sense, but it keeps it civil.
Superstew: you're an ass.
I win.

Jeez, Krause. If you weren't such a johnnie come lately around here you'd know that double, no, even TRIPLE posts are ok. As well as using the quote feature to repeat an entire post. Perhaps when you've been around longer you'll become a better coasterbuzz citizen.
Better shape up there, sonny.
I'm away for a matter of HOURS and then this happens? Why didn't I get a notification? And where's my popcorn?
The fiscal cliff speech ain't never gonna happen - this seems more entertaining anyway. /grabs popcorn.
Talk about a Sprayground! :~)

It's a place where people like to get news, enjoy conversation about something they enjoy to an extent, and then go about their lives. The general tone here, going back to 2000, has catered to a niche that likes roller coasters and amusement parks, but isn't so hard core about it that it entirely defines them. That's really who I started the site for. There are plenty of other sites that cater to people who can talk about nothing else, enjoy stalking the attention whoring personalities of the community, or whatever. People here like to come to an event or two every year, share experiences, and enjoy things beyond marathoning a roller coaster. I'm not dissing the former group (which admittedly does not appeal to me) just saying it's a different crowd.

We all have different opinions, likes and dislikes. It's not a ground breaking concept. Let's talk coasters.
But first, who needs a hug?
Jeff, I guess I should have stated that that was actually just a rhetorical question and didn't really need an answer. We both know what this site and others like Pointbuzz are all about. None the less, I appreciate the explanation.
And yet, of all the people here, you seem to be the one who fits in least with that description. Or at least you're the only one who has such a passionate opinion about Hershey park's layout that you feel the need to defend it by insulting people you don't know.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
Dude, why are you on my case and needling me with all the little digs ?? I didn't say anything to you. I wasn't talking to you ! And was what I said really that horrific and offensive to the point of all of this ?? Btw, these guys are more than capable of fighting their own battles and hardly need you to come to their rescue.
I don't know what you're reading or what you're reading into it I should say, but again, I wasn't insulting anyone !! I made a generalization about some people being lazy. BIG DEAL. If you guys think that's an insult then you most likely have never actually been in a situation where you're being blasted and torched with unflattering remarks. I don't know what else to tell you about it except that there are classes out there to help you deal and cope with this sort of thing. Besides, if I really wanted to throw insults around I would be retaliating with what your buddy LostKause has been doing with me. I just would have came right out and simply said, "hey (insert name here), you're a jerk and a complete butt head because you think HP's layout sucks, and you're also an immature troll that is uneducated and whos opinion is absolutely worthless!!!" Now that's a personal attack and insult. That would be a legitimate reason to be upset - not this miniscule, meaningless garble of mine.
What I don't get is why I don't hear anyone scolding the real offenders. Is it because they are justified in doing it ?? Is it because they "fit in" and I don't ?? I even heard one tough guy up top, call me an ass. I don't know him. I wasn't talking to him or directing any conversation at him .. But yet that name calling seems to be okay also. Is it ?? Better still, is it allowed ?? Last I checked, that kind of crap wasn't tolerated on here. Perhaps exceptions are being made for the favorites and the true fanboys of the site ... And hey, why aren't you out partying for New Years Eve somewhere instead of messing with me ??

Why does the offseason bring out the weirdos?
I have no idea ?? Why is that .. Because I haven't logged 5,000 plus posts on here like you have ?? Because in your mind, I'm just an "outsider" an "attention seeking troll" that has wondered onto your precious turf and violated the harmony within ?? Well my bad then. I never realized there was certain criteria that had to be met in order for you the coaster gods to approve ones participation and to consider them worthy of your greatness. Or one step further, to be pronounced a regular by the comment kings so that our opinions can be deemed as credible.
Yes, I understand perfectly. I have a very firm grasp on the obvious fact that you think just because you and some others LIVE on here, it somehow qualifies you for a free lunch. You think that because you're more active in conversations than I or the next guy is, it automatically gives you a pass and free reign to say, do and act however you damn well want. Sure, there might be a lot of people who don't know me - what the hell does that have to do with anything ?? How much you're involved on these boards is totally irrelevant. Just because I'm not on here every waking minute of the day tearing peoples posts apart and scrutinizing each and every syllable they type, doesn't mean for a split second that I haven't been following the topics and discussions and can contribute valuable information. And just because you do, certainly doesn't entitle you to anything more or me less.
How naive can you be, man ?? Now, I know you've got your panties all up in a knot, but seriously dude, you need to chill and relax. Getting upset and flipping out over someone saying that they think people are against a parks layout because they're too lazy to walk it, is silly and stupid ! All you had to say was that you disagreed, give your reasons, and then moved on. But no, you had to be a smart ass and go into this oh so clever spiel about people being uneducated, misinformed and immature. Speaking of that, I especially like how you keep flapping your gums about how mature you are and how it's so wrong to call names and insult people, but yet here you are doing the exact thing you've been preaching against. Nope, no hypocrisy there.
Now, before you throw another tantrum, take YOUR hand, put it in your pocket, pull out your handkerchief, and wipe the tears out of your eyes and the snot off your nose. All of this crying is very unbecoming of you, and it's giving me the runs. LOL See, I can be clever and funny too.
Okay for real now ... It's really too bad this thing has been blown so far out of proportion. I know that if you were to meet me in person at the family fun park, you would love me and we would no doubt have a blast. I'm really a pretty cool guy. Jeff can attest to that (or at least I hope he could). I use to have a membership here and we met at one of the events held at KI a few years back ;) Anyway, the horsing around on here can be taken out of context a lot of times and give off the wrong impression - unfortunately, that's what has happened here. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Ohhh, and the quote feature ... I was in a hurry. I know how to use it just fine as you can see. Thanks Jeff for the trimming !
And now if I may borrow a line from our beloved webmaster ... "See ya on the midways!!"
I was super before Super Stew was cool !

Just one other quick thing on this ... It seems that a couple of these guys on here are RE defining the term "hard core." Talk about over reacting !
