Hersheypark officials got the green light from the local township Tuesday to add several water-related rides in time for the amusement park's 100th anniversary in 2007.

one question! Where are they going to put it? The park is full as it is! Maybe across the street where they put the Christmas Lane(The lights). Who knows right?
They're supposed to be located in Midway America, and other reports have said it will require removal/ relocation of Frog Hopper and one other ride. Sounds to me like they may be using that area where the Trash Time guys have been set up, then going along that little used walkway toward Roller Soaker and the Rapids Ride.

That would make sense, clustering all the attractions that use water together. Keeps the plumbing more compact.

Here's a link from another paper relating to the same story. Don't know if it requires registration though.

Well, I think this is good news - the township said yes even thought the advisory board said no..

In addition to keeping the plumbing compact, you keep the bathing-suit-clad patrons in one spot (along with changing areas), so they're not faced with either traversing the park in their bathing suits, getting their regular clothes wet, or using restrooms to change.

It is rare that the supervisors will overrule their own Planning Commission. But from reading the article, it looks like whatever issues the PC had with the plan were corrected to the township's satisfaction.

It seems like the area in question is the green space in this picture just below the Ferris Wheel and behind Tidal Force.

Well actually dannerman, at Hersheypark you do use the bathroom to get changed down by Roller Soaker. All the changing stalls are at the back of the bathroom. There is also another smaller changing area closer to the white water rapids ride. And yes, there is a ton of room in Midway America left to be developed in front of Lightning Racer.
Right - I know the changing areas are located in a bathroom, but you're not using toilet stalls to change, which is what one would have to do in order to change in the "regular" restrooms. That's all that I meant.

What, no Frequent Faller? ;)

RGB makes a very good point about the plumbing, they'll save a TON...and it makes more sense in terms of keeping "acceptable attire" separated...

Every waterpark in America needs a RollerSoaker (FSS)...although the price tag still sounds pretty steep, it's an unbelievable interactive attaction...

I agree.. although it's more of a water ride than a rollercoaster to me, I still find it fun to ride. And on cold days? Well, just make sure you're facing backwards and you'll stay relatively dry.
