From the Hersheypark site:

Breakers Edge Water Coaster smoothly rockets riders through splash-filled hills, tight turns, and sweet thrills that are perfect for the whole family.

  • First HydroMAGNETIC Coaster with Flying Saucer Turns
  • Linear Induction Motors Provide a Smooth Ride Experience
  • 4-person In-line Rafts

The park's new racing slide will have six lanes.

I have been waiting for a park in the area to get one of these slide types after riding Crush N Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon last December. New slides are a much needed addition for the Boardwalk with how crowded it gets. It's the only water park I have been to where there was a queue with switchbacks setup to wait for the wave pool and where the lazy river had a 60 minute wait.

I'm also glad no coasters or other rides are being removed for this addition. Every year I am always concerned they are going to announce the removal of Lightning Racer for a Boardwalk expansion.

That water park is always very busy. It needs a lot of extra capacity, and this will certainly help. I've waited in line for an hour for a tube so I could wait in line for an hour for a slide before.

It seems like they will use the station for the old water coaster, which is cool.

It's very nice to see that they didn't take out Tidal Force. It's also very nice to see that they didn't add one of those new launched back and forth water coasters.

I think this will be a great addition.

I'm excited. For this addition. It was all over our local news yesterday. It's an 18 million addition and that seems expensive to me.

^^Yoshifan I'm not sure when you visited with that wait for the lazy river, but my wife and I go every Sunday to float. The longest that we had to wait so far this summer was 20 minutes to get in the lazy river. This past weekend we just rode Lightning Racer because it was too cold to go to the Waterpark.

It was the year it opened. I ended up going back later in the day before closing when it got to a more reasonable wait.
