The Unofficial Guides To All The Rides!

Yes, I believe that that's it. In the HP 2003 vacation guide, it says that the name is 'Claw'. Pretty pathetic rip-off of Talon, huh? ;)

Blast Coaster, I'm not sure I follow you. What do a coaster and a flat ride have in common? If you've seen the ride in person as I have, it looks like a claw. The Afterburner that Reithoffer Shows has at The York Fair is called the "Wild Claw". So, if anything it's a abbreviated version of that ride's name.

but what is a kmg afterburner, what does it do?
The Revolution is going where their Enterprise was. The Flying Scooters are going to be across the midway from Revolution behind the station for the train. I was lucky enough to work on the footers for Revolution about a month ago.

Here's what it does. Think pirate ship. swing back and forth then have a seating area that spins in a circle.

Wouldn't that be a huss frisbee?

The Afterburner swings much higher than a standard Frisbee. It also only spins in one direction, whereas the Frisbee can spin in two. The last feature is inverted seating in rows of four, whereas the Frisbee has a solid ring of sit-down seating only broken by the entrance and exit. I hope that answers your question. I have pictures, but no website. Try Twisted Rails for pics of an Afterburner, or try kmg-rides.com then sales.

I still don't understand the thinking behind this move.

The new ride is way cool, but why get rid of the very low maintenance and popular Cyclops (enterprise) and keep the Pirate which is more similar to the Claw and not near as exciting.

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions

the first ever park instalation of a KGM afterburner was vortex at thorpe park. i think this picture sums it up best:

I think the point is that Huss Enterprise's are ceasing to be 'low-maintenance' and their Cyclops needed to get replaced with *something*

I'm really interested in whatever potential their Flying Scooters might have.

Intamin Fan, Dorney Park opens a ride called Talon in 2001, then Hershey opens a ride called Claw in 2003. Coincidence? What difference does it make if its a coaster or not? Just pointing that out.

BC, if you saw the building of Lightning Racer show, you know that Hershey went through great lengths to come up with the final name. I highly doubt Hershey said "Hmmm...Dorney has a ride called Talon themed to a bird, so let's find a synonym for Talon." When I look at an Afterburner/Revolution, I think of a mechanical claw that picks up scrap metal/cars. I'm betting that's how Hershey looks at it also. We'll all find out once the park opens in May.

As for why the Enterprise was removed, I think it's the case of low-ridership. Enterprise wheels aren't as revolutionary as they once were. They're like what, 20 or more years old? As for why the Pirate ship stays and Cyclops leaves, I think it's because many people will not go on inverting rides. Remember, Hershey is more of a family place.

Intamin Fan, I didn't intend to sound like I was stating a fact, it just seemed odd to me that the only two claw-themed rides at major theme parks would wind up at two neighboring parks. Maybe they didn't intend to rip off Dorney's name, but it turned out to be quite a coincidence. And PA parks have a history of copying each other to some extent.
