Hersheypark

Over on the thrillride.com rumor mill, there is something about hersheyparks cyclops completely gone now. It also says that they aren't getting anything new this year. Does anyone know anything about either?

Phoenix-A great town and a great coaster
So far nothing going on in Hershey other than the construction of the new hockey arena. I was a Hershypark pass holder last season and renewed for this year and didn't get any fliers.
I heard a rumor of Hershey getting a light show for 2001 but didn't hear anything for sure. Last Season when I went to Candy Lane (Hersheys Christmas Thing)the Cyclops was dismantled then too. I'm guessing HERCO is going to concentrate on the arena and minor impovements around the park. I'll be happy if they fix the parking lot for 2001.

As a member of the work force at Hershey, I can tell you that Cyclops is completely gone. The only new thing they are getting is a nighttime laser light show called nighlights.
I forgot, HERCO is also fixing the parking lot. The building in the middle of the parking lot has been torn down to make room for more parking and a tram lane.
This would have been the 20th season for the Cyclops. I have to wonder, why after all these years, they would remove it. It seemed to be fairly popular as far as flat rides go and not that much of a maintenance headache. Who knows?
Cyclops was constantly breaking down over the summer and they probably decided to get rid of it due to that fact.

hehe... Will hershey ever dish out for a big steel monster... Chocolate money should be thrown throughout the industry!!

I'm 2 for 2 so far!!!
It seems to me though, that if this ride was constantly breaking down, it wouldn't have taken them 20 seasons to figure out that it was time for it to go.
most of the breaking down did not occur until this year.
Hey susie, what are they gonna do with the old arena when the bears move out? Someone that works down there told me they will be putting in some kind of ride.

They are going to use the old arena for smaller family shows and youth hockey. HERCO originally thought about putting a coaster in it, but the fans wanted to leave it alone because of the history.
Susie...
Are there any discount deals on HP tickets similar to the Pepsi cans at CP? Thanks.

Dan
Last season Hershey had discounts on Coke cans and at Wendy's and Giant supermakets. I think even Turkey Hill convenient stores had them too.

Thanks coasterpunk. We are mainly hitting Cedar Fair and Paramount parks (season's passes) this summer... but can't resist Hershey, Knoebels, and Kennywood (2 hours for the coasters last year, all day this year!)

Dan
If you hit Hershey on a weekday or "weak day", you'll own the place.

NightLights, according to the official site, is a 1.4 million dollar musical laser spectacular that will be held nightly on a 40'x 60' retractable screen when the park closes.
