I'm waiting until the last minute to put something together - it seemed to have worked in the past. :)
Some questions answered and general comments here.
No settings to change train size or lift speed or friction. No scenery or terraforming. $25,000 to work with.
It's coaster design stripped to its most basic element.
- Have its station low, possibly down by the creek.
- Have track curve slightly to the right before the lift hill. Have the lift hill rise across the creek.
- At the top of the lift, have it make a sharp curve to the left and then go into the drop followed by the loop.
- After the loop, have the track swoop upward and to the left, eventually threading back through the loop.
- Have it then follow the terrain and make a swoop to the right. May want to add a tunnel here too.
- After the tunnel, have it dip down toward the creek bed, and then a slight rise again.
- after the rise have it go into a helix. Better yet, have it below ground level so that it appears to be balasted out of the rock... almost like in a canyon.
- After coming out of the helix, have it head back across the creek to the breaks, and then back into the station.
- As for the trains... forget OTSR's, just go with plain old lap bars.
Now THAT would be the perfect Schwarzkopf style LOOPER coaster for Hersheypark.
Ooooops... to late! Already been done! *** Edited 7/29/2005 12:57:11 PM UTC by SLFAKE***
Just give me some insight on what rating would be good enough to win. Like what were some of the rides you designed for the demo and what were your excitement and intensity ratings? I am more used to No Limits and designing a smooth ride. I can't really have geat transitions with this game which is disappointing. Probably why I just play No limits and did not buy it. Also the orginal RCT and add ons were the best anyway.
I put in a nice little invert "JayHawk". it was something like 8, 7, 7...pretty decent i thought. The demo is if you don't onw rct3.
I hope that they only accept the Schwarzkopf style coaster, because that is the only fair way to go about it. I do have a question about the cost though.
As I understand it, you submit your saved track design and the cost is limited to 25,000. However the cost sometimes varies on where you put it and so mine will cost 24,000 or so if you put it in certain areas, but might cost more. I guess they will figure that out, but that would be stupid to get disqualified for that.
Like it hasn't already been stated several times but: You MUST use the RCT3 demo version that is downloaded from the contest website.

IMO the rating system in this new RCT3 series sucks. I've tired over and over from looper to hyper coaster and I can't get a rating over 6.85 in excitement, in the 6. range in intensity and about a 3 range for sickness. I will not stop, until I get something way higher. I'm gonna win that hundred thou got damn it I wontt stop ahahahahahahhh.....sorry was turning into Sybil there for a second whew. *** Edited 8/3/2005 1:43:41 AM UTC by westcoaster man***
1. They're not going to accept an entry made with anything but the version of the Coaster Designer they offer for download. So don't hold your breath.
2. I've messed around a little with contest designs after this thread piqued my interest and I can pretty much guarantee you're not pushing stats significantly higher than what westcoaster man is talking - especially with a raw Schwarzkopf-style looper.
