The private company that manages attractions at Stone Mountain Park is losing money at the site and wants help from the state. Revenues at the park are so low, according to a financial report issued last month, that Herschend Family Entertainment Corp. has asked for a temporary reduction in the roughly $10 million a year the company pays the state in rent.

If you haven't been but you get the opportunity, I highly recommend a side trip to Stone Mountain. The wife and I went a year and a half ago and really enjoyed ourselves. We were only there for a few hours but the trip up to the top of the mountain was worth the stop.

Unfortunately, we were not there during the time they run the laser show but I understand it is excellent. (The same company runs the Summer Spectacular at Cedar Point.)

If you enjoy golf I hear they golf course there is excellent.

I have to agree with Wahoo...The wife and I visited Stone Mountain in May on our honeymoon and had an absolute blast. Like Wahoo, the laser show was not operating when we were their either.

If you have the chance, you definitely need to visit Stone Mountain. They have a lot there aside from the mountain.

$10m a year in rent sounds very high to me...I can see how they would struggle paying that kind of rent.

I just visited Stone Mountain this year and it is a great park. It is definitely deserving of a visit.

You know, Im a recent college grad having trouble finding a job. I wonder if I could ask my apartment complex for a break in my rent?
