Here Goes Disney, Pricing Themselves Out Of The Middle Class Again

The DVC cabins and villas coming to Wilderness Lodge have a name, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins. The brief article notes that with "...the addition of cabins at Wilderness Lodge DVC and the Bungalows at Polynesian offers [sic] a new level of luxury for guests, and the price tag to go with it." [Empasis added]

It's all the buzz on Disney Park fan sites this morning.

I was talking with some friends who are staying on-property. They probably come down twice a year. They read more of the Disney fan sites than I do (which is to say I don't at all), and remarked how most seem to be completely miserable bastards who wouldn't be much fun to hang out with.

Here's the thing about some of these expensive offerings: They fill a niche that they weren't previously addressing, while still offering the core product at a mass-market price. Seriously, who cares? If the airlines suddenly added an extra two rows of first class seats, what difference does it make?

Disney would be a fool to not take that kind of money if people are willing to spend it.

Both sets of Bungalows are on land that wasn't well used before. The Polynesian ones might have been usable beach before, but there was more than enough beachfront available when we stayed there last year. This past week I took a boat from the Contemporary to the Wilderness Lodge. Ended up getting a close view of the construction. Those bungalows appear to be going in what had been a wooded area. Other than the nature trail between the Lodge and campground being blocked off, it was completely unused before, and not taking away from anyone else's experience.

I will miss the nature trail if it is permanently gone, but in the times I've walked it I only ran into other people once. Most people stuck to the paved walk.

No argument here, Jeff. (Mainly I can't generally resist the temptation to make the "pricing themselves out of the middle class" joke.)

I check a few Disney park sites each morning for news but rarely delve into the comments. Not fun people.

The Disney nuts might explode if they knew the cabins were almost the exact same that Cedar Point offers. They are being trucked in just like those at Lighthouse Point.

Just want to add that there's no need for the "[sic]" here. That's proper English.

I know. I was going back and forth between Cbuzz and another site where I was posting that did need it. I went a little CTRL-C ccrazy.

That's because Maserati hates poor people.

The Maserati dealer 2 miles from our house welcomes my son and I every time we ride our bikes down to check out the cars. Because some day...
