Help with textures

I know this has ben brought up before, but I still can't get it.  I take an existing texture, modify it, and save it as a 24 bit targa.  It shows up in my car textures folder, but the car is still white when I open it up.  Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?  I am running XP if that helps.  Thanks.
I myself am having the same problem. I never tried to figure it out, giving up after 2 tries. I don't think XP has to do with it, but I've tried with both Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop 6.0

I made my own for Millennium Force and here is what I did.

Make the background of the texture's the same color you as your train. Example, for the red train I made the logo and filled in the back color of the area red with the tool in paint (or whatever). SO I ended up making 3 different texture's for each of my trains, each with different backgrounds. The NL default texture somehow works with every train color, but if you make your own it changes things.

I hope this helps :)

It's not just MonkeyBall, it's SUPER Monkeyball

I guess that will work, but does it reflect light correctly?

btw, Super Monkey Ball is nothing more than Super Souped Up Graphics Marble Madness with MiniGames

It still isn't working for me.  Maybe it is my graphics programs?  I am running either Microsoft Photodraw or Image Expert 2000, both of which handle Targas.
It's something with the Alpha Channel not being set up properly.  Many people have had problems with it...try setting up one from scratch with the same settings (24bit Targa with the same dimensions), and then make your texture using the default one as a reference.  Just modifying the default texture without knowing how to properly impliment the alpha channel will result in white cars.

Thanks Ride-Op, but there's no need now.  I downloaded a free program called IrfanView, and it works fine.  You can get it here.  All you need to do is open the file, save it as a bitmap, then open it in Paint or another program.  Make the texture, save it, and open it in IrfanView again. This time save it as a Targa and it should work fine.  It is a lot of trouble, but it works!

Just as a side note, everyone and their brother should have irfanview. It is absolutely without equal as a graphic viewer. And freeware.
