Help With Terminology

Is there a site somewhere that explains all the ride terminology.

Heart-line - pretzel - barrel roll etc.

As a newcomer to the "Tech" side of coasters I would be very interested in understanding more of what I'm reading.

Any help would be great - if there isn't anything - how about if I create a page on my website dedicated to this - with everyones help on the research side. I'm sure it would be a great help to others in my position.

Coasterforce.com has something like this. It shows pictures and has definitions of different terminoligy. A heartline is a is an inline-twist where the line of rotation is your heart. A barrel roll is mostly the same. A pretzel can be the turnaround like on Magnum or an inverting turnaround like on Montu and Great American Scream Machine. It could also be the element on Superman at SFOG.

Many thanks, I'm still having trouble with things like SFOG, but i think I've got that one now, correct me if I'm wrong - Six Flags Over Georgia.

Us Brits - we have a dozen parks - we don't have to abbreviate them - I don't know how you guys on the other side of the pond, do it.  Do you happen to know how many theme, amuzement etc. parks there are in the US?

I'll get over there one day - but what the heck - 3 weeks to Terra Mitica (Spain), and I can scream away on Magnus Colossus yet again.

Well Mark, I guess you just have to grow up here, you know?  I can't really explain it.  Still, a lot of the acronymns confuse me too.

SF almost always stands for Six Flags, Followed by the parks name. OG: Over Georgia, WoA: Worlds Of Adventure..

You'll get used to them soon!

While there are nearly 600 parks in the US, there are only 140 that have "adult" roller coasters.

coasterforce.com has an amazing collection of facts and information regarding general and advance info. I know they have an entire section that explains most of the general terminology such as what you are seeking. However, many elements are the same but can be referred to by different names. For example, a heartline roll,Barrel roll,  or in-line twist are essentially the same.
