HELP! My game crashes...

Could someone please help me... I just bought the game today and it crashes whenever I try to place down a ride or control staff. I can't play the game at all. I have no clue what's wrong b/c I've installed the update 1.
Number one b/c is not a word. But sounds like your computer is clashing with something. I had this problem with my keyboard that had the sound button. Every time I hit the button bam! THe game exited.

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

It's called internet shorthand. It's fine.

Not at Coasterbuzz. At any rate, it would be nice if people stopped jumping on newer members.

Raven, even though a Coasterbuzz member *may* have a fix for your problem, it's likely that you'll get a more detailed solution to your problem in a shorter amount of time if you email Atari's tech support. Since this problem appears to be somewhat widespread, chances are that they'll know what to do, or at least consider a bug fix for the next patch.

There are a couple suggestions listed here. That page should also contain a link to email support in case your problem is not resolved.

Phantom tails, it says right in the TOS that theres a difference between misspelled words and shorthand.

If we can't use shorthand than why are veteran members always saying LOL, BTW, ROFL, LMAO, ?

My game locks up whenever I try to place down rides in Sandbox mode and when I load a scenario it freezes up on "Post Activate: Terrain". I've already updated both my video and sound drivers and emailed Atari, but still I have no way of playing the game. Has anyone else had similar issues?
Raven: Welcome to RCT3. C-Buzz is a great place for info. All i can say about RCT3 is this: When it runs, it's a blast. When it doesn't, take sedatives. There is a ton of info in the forum about all/most of the problems w/this game.
So relax, sit back and enjoy your coffee or whatever. You have a lot of reading to do.
ps. Try atari tech support. Granted, all they did for me was refer me to MicroSoft over the DirectX 9 issue, (which came from their rct3 disk.)

dont worry. this game was rushed to release very fastly.
I've read through many topics with bug reports and haven't found anyone with a similar problem. I know for a fact I have all the system requirements met. Does anyone think that it could just be this RCT3 copy and I should just try a new one?

Try reinstalling it first.
I've actually reinstalled it three times. It seems to recreate the problem. I've also tried using it without the Update 1 Patch to see if it happened to just be a error from that, but it still did it. Here are my computer specs.

my guess is the Vid-Card. 32 is the game minimum, which by this game means it will not work most of the time. *** Edited 12/31/2004 4:50:40 PM UTC by FLYINGSCOOTER***

Don'f feel bad, I was using RCT3 fine for about three weeks, never crashed, no glitches. Then after I downloaded the update I cannot save any games, and the game does not exit, just crashes. I did the email tech support, but never got a resolution. Just got a lot of frustration and dissapointment.

Real men ride wood... coasters that is!
So would a ATI RADEON 9600 XT 128MB AGP Graphics Card run the game very well? Or should I consider getting an even more expensive card?
Raven: From what i've read here, that card should help.
Phoenix: That problem is new to me. Can't say i've heard that one.

I'm running on a 9600 and seem to be getting framerates that are very comparable to what everyone else is. You should be able to find a 9600 for pretty cheap.

I'd get as much card as you can afford - not just for this game (because it seems to max out at a certain point), but for everything in general.

Does anyone know where I could find the best deal for ATI cards? I've looked at Best Buy and Circuit City and they are both sold out (online).
The ones in Cleveland are stocked pretty good on those. Can't speak for IND. Call some of the locations near you. Is there a Comp USA near you?

Do you want an actual ATI card or just a card with the ATI chipset?

My personal opinion is that you overpay at any bricks and mortar store.

I'm a big newegg fan.

ATI 9600XT cards with 128MB of RAM start at $134

*** Edited 12/31/2004 7:12:12 PM UTC by Lord Gonchar***

No, the nearest Comp USA store is in Indianapolis, and I live outside of Evansville. I could use shipping services, but it would be more expensive. Would a 9600XT card be a good move to make for future games, or should I save up for something better?

Also, at Newegg.com they have a 9600XT for $189 and a 9800 for $170. The 9800 has a better rating and 256MB, the 9600XT has a lower rating and 128MB. I'm not very familiar with this video card stuff, which is better? I'm not even sure what my motherboard can take for expansion, I current have a MachSpeed P4DMFP Motherboard, will that take these video cards? *** Edited 12/31/2004 7:35:42 PM UTC by RavenXtreme***
