Make sure you meet the system requirements, have a FAST video card (at least a Voodoo 3500, or a GeForce 2), RAM, and the latest version of Direct X. The game uses Open GL, so if your video card was made primarily for Direct3D... fuggetaboudit!

Fast video card my butt.  My graphics card is a crappy intel i810e chipset, probably 4MB. i get anywhere from 30-50 fps.  I was amazed on how fast it ran on my machine.

I have a good machine, its just that the video card is bad (600mhz PIII, 384 MB ram.....)

And also, DirectX really doesn't do much to this game, due to the fact OpenGL does all the rendering ;)

Yes, I think that the system requirements have been greatly exaggerated. I think the quality of the OpenGL driver has more to do with it (and I seem to recall your ancient video card had a good GL driver ;)). I ran it on a TNT (first generation) and a GeForce2 MX no problem.

That's where Nvidia really shines, I think. Even with the first generation TNT's, they had great GL support, which won a lot of converts from the 3dfx crowd (of which I was never a part of, always hoping that Rendition was going to make something happen). Now look at the landscape... you have Nvidia with serious 3D power at all market segments, and others who just have mediocre products.

OK folks... the one thing you're missing is that DirectX is more than just Direct3D.  I'm pretty certain DirectX IS used for sound and input and other such things, so getting the newest version of it is recommended.
how can i tell what kind of graphics card i have? i got this computer for christmas 2 years ago, and haven't upgraded. how do i check it?

Right click on your desktop.  Choose properties.  Choose the Settings Tab at the top.  On the left hand side about half way down it will tell you what graphics card you have.

I tried looking under properties as well and I cannot find a darn thing on my graphics card.I'm having a problem with the DLL file not being found. And I know it's not a problem with DirectX because I downloaded the latest version for scream machines. My hardware should be able to run no limits because the requirements are the same as for scream machines but yet it will not run.
Remember guys your card must be able to handle OpenGL to run NoLimits.  NL could care less about DX8.  Be sure to go to your video card's website and get the latest drivers.  If you have an nVidia card go to [url=www.nvidia.com]nVidia's site and download the latest reference drivers.  ATI owners are kinda screwed for now until ATI produces some decent OpenGL drivers.  Hopefully they'll rectify that problem soon, and I'm sure Ole will do what he can do to get it running for ATI people.  If you have a really old graphics card or don't know what it is, it's probably time for a new one.  A good GeForce2 will run about $100, and is a solid investment.

If I'm not mistaken scream machines also requires an openGL cardas well.So I don't get why I'm having this problem.
you are mistaken, SM uses direct 3d, hence needing dirext X 8.0 installed.  if you restart your computer that can help too, and not have other programs running on your comp, if youve already tried these (which im sure you have), im clueless.

Will a VooDoo 3 be a good enough graphics card? I haven't downloaded it yet, and I don't want to unless my computer can handle it. My computer has 300MHz and 160M of RAM.

Well Voodoo 3 should handle OpenGL just fine, and many people with Voodoo 2's are happy at the moment.  Your 300mhz processor is what worries me.  That might be the weak link in the chain.  Maybe it's time to upgrade?

I downloaded the first first of NoLimits when it came out, and it worked just fine. The 300Mhz was bought back in '97, and that was about the best you could get back then...pretty funny how far we've come in 4 years. It's a Pentium II because the Pentium III's came out the month after we got our computer.

It's our family computer, and I doubt I'll upgrade anytime soon because it would be a hard sell to my parents.

Anyway, I'll try it out tonight and see if it works...here's hoping!

The software freezes on me while I'm "riding" the coaster..
Be sure your drivers are updated.  Also be sure that Stencil Buffer is off.  The P key will pause the ride, so be sure you haven't accidentally hit that key.  If none of that helps post again with the specs of your computer and we'll see what we can do to help you.
