I am new to all of this and just wanted to introduce myself. I hope I am not treated differently on these boards, it does not seem like there are many girls. I hope to get to know all of you.

Welcome to CoasterBuzz. Two things are certain in enthusiast circles: There won't be many women and only a small percentage of enthusiasts like to "throw back" adult beverages. It's weird, but then again, so is our obsession.

I'm a girl dangit, and I object to the title of this thread. There are a few of us around here!

Female coaster enthusiast/rugger who doesn't mind throwing back a few cold ones.
Wow, I'm rare.
I'm a female and I LOVE to throw back a few cold ones when time/money allow!!!!

Welcome sister. An enthusiast is an enthusiast no matter what sex they are, so enjoy.

Thank you for riding America's Roller Coast
Umm Jeff, what do you mean about the "cold ones"? Why is there a mass "enthusiasts boycott" on them? I know I'm sort of new to this biz, but that just seems strange. Personally, I enjoy my coasters more with a thick, frothy malted beverage. Oh yeah one other thing, you dont see a wide assortment of colors in enthusiast circles either. It's fairly vanilla...with pralines few and far between.

I don't know what it is... but generally speaking the enthusiasts I encounter won't head out to a watering hole after a day at the park, favoring instead a Denny's or (yuck) Steak-n-Shake. Maybe it's just the people I know?

I absolutlely REFUSE to eat at a Steak-n-Shake. I have only been inside them twice and on both occasions (in two different cities) they just looked very unclean. Maybe people jsut dont want to drink after riding. I prefer a good cold one in-between rides myself. Oh well, to each her/his own.

Welcome to the boards Missy! It's always nice to see a wide assortment of enthusiasts here! About "cold ones" after a day of coaster riding, it's difficult to say what most people prefer. Personally, I don't like to drink, so I wouldn't do that. However, I also wouldn't go into a Dennys afterwards. Dennys is terrible!. :)

Welcome Missy...and IMHO, nothing is better than tipping a few(or a lot)after a long day in the park. Hell, START in the park if you're not driving...

I'm only in college and am 19 years old, so obviously, I wouldn't know what an "adult beverage" tastes like (end sarcasm). Well...I have never tried to combine roller coasters and alcohol, but I would think that that would be a dangerous combination if one is not careful. Then again, that may be part of the reason why parks charge so much for beer.
So what's your IM name Missy mine is coastergenius100 (go figure).

It's the rugby part of me that drinks, not the enthusiast part of me. :) Not that I drink, because I'm only 20 years old... ;)

Who still doesn't like the title of this thread - finds it sexist and annoying and moves for a hand recount...oh wait, that's the Florida election.
Welcome Missy and welcome back Hostyl. Aince most enthusiasts have to drive to get to parks, drinking after riding doesn't work, unless one considers jail or a hospital a good place to spend the night;). Also, hot weather and alcohol are a really bad mix. Alcohol poisoning and dehydration will realy ruin anyone's day.

Everybody calm down, the coasters do not open for another fifteen minutes.
That's why I stay at or near the park when I can ;). Nothing better than a big-a** Friday's Ultimate Margarita after a day of MF riding!! I guess it kinda helps calm me down from the giant adrenaline rush or something. And then in the morning, that first coaster of the day will cure any hangover!!! You and I are two of a kind I guess, Jeff!!!

Wild One: I never left. I've been reading, just havent had much to say. And I didnt mean to imply that I advocate drinking and driving. I learned that lesson years ago (I thank the Lord that no one was hurt). But, having a beer or three at say 3pm when you are going to stay till park closing at like 10pm - 12am isn't really putting anyone in harm's way. I dont know about anyone else, but the government doesn't pay me enough to be able to afford purchasing enough 'beverages' in a park to get 'fall-down' sloppy.

this reminds me of my trip to CP earlies this year. No crowds so we took a long dinner at the TGIFriday's right out on the beach. good dinner, had lots to drink. 4-5 beers and two shots. then we headed back to the park, hit power tower twice, disaster transport, and raptor. that is a lot of crazy rides after all that drinking. I don't recomment it to anyone.
Welcome missy and LOL!!!! Natalie on the hand recount.
