Height Projection Based on Historical Data?

Since joining the coaster community several years ago, one of the most discussed questions is about the potentials of future coaster heights.

Somehow, I would like to see some fact-based historical analysis (from some impartial source, Guinness probably being the best) that plots time (years) on the x-axis and that year's record coaster height on the y-axis, with a trend line extrapolated to represent the next 5-10 years. The more data points that are available, the better. Obviously, past performance does not guarantee future results, but it would be interesting to see anyway - to get a possibility where we'll be in the future.

Problem is, I don't have access to the data (at least I think I don't). Anybody willing to either provide the data, point me to it, or do the analysis?

No one cares, they could build a 500 footer now if they wanted, but they don't
