Heading to CP this weekend!

Kenmei's avatar

A bunch of my buddies that have never been to Cedar Point are driving all the way from Minneapolis to meet up with us at Cedar Point this weekend. I'm totally geeked about taking them, and while I've been there about eight times over the years, anything new that you guys think we should absolutely drag them kicking and screaming to check out? (Dragster and Maverick are a must; I don't have ride cred on Maverick yet. ;) )

I think we have an extra ride and slide too that's already been purchased since someone bugged out on us at the last minute. Poo. =( Time to try and sell it.

CAN'T WAIT!

Millie, Maggie, Mav, Raptor & TTD would be musts IMO. If they have never been, I would also include WT & MaxAir. The others I would hit as time allows.

Hope fully Millie will be back up soon!!! Before coastermania next week. But I 2nd what Dave said.

Wow massive suckage. Seems to always happen right before I go though. Maybe I'm bad luck. ;)

There is a photo linked on the pointbuzz thread. It looks like Millie will be down for a while. We can only hope that they get it fixed for CoasterMania. I can't see too many people wanting to marathon Mean Streak.

Aw come on, everyone likes a little migrane ;)

massive suckage though. I really was lookin forward to riding this weekend. Not that there aren't a million other things to do but still.

If you want to scare the living snot outta your friends, take 'em on Mean Streak. If you want to torture them, hit Mantis. When I worked at CP in '05, it was a running joke calling it the "Man-Hater." One ride an your friends would figure it out.

I also agree with hitting Maggie, Raptor, and MF. You should also hit Blue Streak once. If it's hot, hit Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls.

AVOID Disaster Transport at all costs. There has never been a coaster with a name that descibes it better.

Don't forget to hit some of the classic flats too. Cedar Downs one of the last "derby" style carousels left in the word.

If you need to relax, one of my favorite places was the a gazeebo in the town squate near CCMR, Skyhawk, and Snake River. Most of the time, it's quite shady.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

You likely arent going to be able to ride MF. Its cable snapped today, and the sled ended up flipping over and hanging freely down the first drop.

Yeah, so I've seen.

and Hopman: Cedar Downs is my FAVORITE thing in the park! I'm such a dork. I always have to hit that and then get taffy on my way out. I'm a sucker.

No, you'd HAVE a sucker if you got a lollipop on the way out. :)

Cedar Downs is a good ride. One of the more unique things at CP. Aren't there only two of those derbys still in operation around the world?

I don't know if Blackpool still has theirs or not. I've ridden both Ryes (Last year) and CP's Downs and I like em both. Follow directions, The one at Rye is pretty darn fast. Its been several years since I've done CPs

Blackpool's Derby racer[url][url].

Yep. I just looked on theire site and they STILL have it. I do know CP's has a good contant G-force. The "Old Skool" thrill ride!

(Roll eyes) "I'm going to (x) park! Is there anything I shouldn't miss!"

I mean, I know that you are probably excited, but why don't you just go and enjoy the day. I'm sure that since you've been there so many times that you know what the park offers. My advice, go and ride all of the coasters, some of the flats, and eat some of the food too. Oh, and ride some of the water rides if you don't mind getting wet. Jeesh.

I gotta kinda agree with LK on this one. You've already been to the park yourself. Shouldn't you have all the info you need from your previous trips stored in you memory banks. Just go with what you already know.

Consider taking a walk along the walk way to Sandcastle Suites for some cool views of Magnum and walk back along the beach and have lunch or dinner at TGI Fridays.

I guess im the only one who enjoys frequenting Wicked Twister. I rarely hear it mentioned.. Yes it is a simple coaster I suppose, but its one that invokes a giggle or two outta me..

Ive also wanted to go jet skiing but every time Ive been up there the water or the weather wasnt conducive to doing that.. (I assume you can do that.. Ive seen the JS, but Ive never seen anyone riding them..)

So MF and KK are both down for long term issues now?

See THIS was exactly the kind of suggestion I was looking for! THANK you. We took your advice, and this was nice! I've never wandered back that way and dinner at Fridays was wonderful. Lovely view and a great way to unwind after a long day at the park =)
