Headbanging (Deja Vu)

On Deja Vu at SFOG, is there headbanging during any parts of the ride?

Nope! It's a very sweet ride. I rode the one at SFGRAM and had a blast!

Basically, all the Invertigos (inverted boomerangs) operate about the same IMO.  Yes the seating on Deja Vu is different, and the vertical spikes are cool and all, but the inverted seating makes the BIG difference...Face/Off, Two-Face, and PGA's Invertigo were all similarly smooth.  Besides, any roughness involved in those rides won't bang your HEAD, more likely your butt...from my experience...

I didn't have any problem with the one at SFOG.  In fact, I thought it was very smooth and enjoyable.  I just hate that I only got one ride in on it!

On my ride at SFMM on Deja Vu I experienced it being a bit bumpy on the towers but no head banging just a bit of vibrations.  Other than that I experienced 0 head-banging.

KBF Net - Coming Soon!
Last Saturday, I rode Deja Vu at SFMM for the first time.  To be honest, I didn't know what to expect.  I have heard the ride was very smooth so I went for a ride on it with that in mind. I didn't tense up as I dropped from the first spike and thought the ride was smooth...

until...

...we hit the boomerang.  Since I was riding in a relaxed state of mind, my head hit the restraints pretty hard three times while going through the boomerang. I really wasn't expecting the ride to be that violent. The loop was fine as was the second spike, but that boomerang was pretty nasty.

Now, given that it was chilly out and the locals I was with said the train was going REALLY slow, perhaps that had something to do with it, but my first ride on Deja wasn't all that pleasant. And this is coming from someone that rarely has problems with any form of headbanging.  One of my friends commented that the Chicago version was much smoother.

Hopefully I will be able to get a better  ride on it at another park when it is warmer, or when I go back to SFMM.

Hey, Sean, just curious, what seat were you in?  I was at SFMM just on New Years Eve, and it was pretty chilly, but in the back seat it was still butter smooth, wild, fast, fun as hell, etc...   I'm just wondering if seat choice could contribute to some head banging occasionally, if the front of the train really whipped through the turn out of the first inversion or somewhere around in there.

Ravenguy,

I was sitting in the very last seat, on the right side of the train. I was going to ride with the rest of the group I was with but when the back row was available, the locals I was with told me to ride there because it is their favorite seat.

I rode SFGAm's during the last day of Fright Fest and it had to be in the 50's and I thought it was really smooth.  So I wouldn't think that cold would make it that bad at SFMM.

Story of my life!  Just when I think I may be on to something...and i was in the exact same seat.   Oh well.  :)
I rode SFoG's last October on a Fri night when it was like 50ยบ...I found the ride to be quite enjoyable, and didn't get *any* headbanging.

Leave it to Sean to find something wrong with a great ride.  I'm so sick of whiny, picky, coaster enthusiasses.  You're too hard to please, Sean.

Anything?  :)  Just kiddin' ya, that's too bad that it gave ya a good whack.  I heard you had a completely different (and much better) ride on X, something about being speechless?  Tell us about that one, will ya?

I just have one question...did it beat the Jeepers! coaster?

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not you that's the problem, but THE PARK? ;)

Legendary,

I wasn't looking for anything wrong with Deja. As a matter of fact, I was thinking it would be quite fun. Don't get me wrong,  I did enjoy the spikes and the loop, and I can see how the boomerang element would differ if the ride was going faster, but it wasn't  Oh.........wait.  You were kidding. =:^)

As far as X, well, let's just say it easily surpassed all my expectations. I may do a trip report tomorrow.

ravenguy & sean F. ---

I had the opportunity of riding Deja Vu 4 times on two different days. Twice in the very front, others in the middle (oh how I wanted the back-outside). I will admit that the front seats were rather rough thru the cobra roll, whereas the middle of the train was ultra smooth. I actually had quite a headache after the ride (dont know if it was CAUSED by the ride, or if I just happened to come down with a headache). I LOVE the first spike, even moreso on the return trip, where you FALL back onto the OTSR's.

I have one question though---when I rode it, the new orange seatbelts hadnt been installed yet. Can anybody who has ridden both before and after second seatbelts tell me if the ride experience is altered because of these second sets of seatbelts.

Loaded G,

I rode the one at SFGAm in October, and found exactly as you did. I was in the front right wing seat (1B?) and experienced a bit of headbanging, only through the cobra roll. Irregardless, I loved the ride. The backwards drag up the first tower is the best!!!

Later,

I got no headbanging on my SFMM Deja Vu ride, but if you did, it probably isn't painful cause the rolling out of the butterfly turn is done in really quick consecutive snaps.
