Have you ever blacked out before?

Have you ever blacked out before?

I haven't, but I have come very close to. The last time on Goliath, I looked backwards the entire time and come helix time, the g's were just getting realy really strong and i felt like crap for a second.

It happens all the time to me on Batman The Ride.  I don't think I black out, but it's really hard to see.  There is this blackness that moves towards the center of my vision.  It's cool as anything, but only for a short while.

Past this point of no return your only choice is freeze or burn.

It also happened to me on Goliath, the helixing finale is brutal, I rode it 3 times and each time the same thing happened, it didn't matter much because Goliath is an excellent ride.

Same thing for me also. Buy I saw black on the bottom of the third loop. My eyes were seeing 3/4 of black. I'll I could see was the track.

On Alpengeist's cobra roll, I was in the very back seat, far left and right in the "saddle" of it my vision started to fade and go a little gray. I remeber foucusing on the first row, already flipping over, and it getting very hazy, so I just closed my eyes until we finished the inversion.
I don't know, it could have been my contact lenses....

I also felt like I was going to black out recently on SFGam's Shockwave... that 3rd loop is killer.  I've been riding it every year since it opened (1988, I think) and it's gotten rougher, and frankly, scarier with age.  In some respects, the roughness adds an extra jolt of terror that I normally associate with wooden coasters.  The sensation that the track is gonna snap and send the train flying onto the pavement is a thrill that you just can't get from smoother, B&M creations.

Don't get me wrong, Raging Bull is one of my favorite coasters... it might even beat Millenium Force for me... but the joy I get from the incredible airtime and awesome drops on that coaster is completely different than the shake, rattle, and twist chills I get from the classic Arrow looper.

I remember waiting 3 hours to ride Shockwave the day it opened and being completely satisfied.  Although I probably wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes for it today, it's still a grand old ride and I hope it stays at the park for years to come.

Perhaps it could benefit from some modifications... new trains with lapbars, or perhaps some tunnels or new theming to provide headchopper effects.  Great America turned Turn Of The Century into the Demon.... why not make over Shockwave with some sort of creature theming... perhaps a Dragon or Sea Beast of some sort.  I'd rather see it re-themed than removed....

Oops...  I'm starting to get off topic now.

;-)

Oh yeah, and this one time, I was on Viper (or as some prefer, tidal wave) at SFoG, and I started blacking out going through the loop backwards.  My friend started makin fun of me cause it's just the Viper.  It was great.

Is it normal to black out (get that black splotch) on rides?

Sometimes I wonder if there's something wrong with me.

At SFWoA I blacked out on the following rides:

Batman Knight Flight, Serial Thriller.

At SFGAm, Batman:TR, Shockwave, Iron Wolf.

I haven't ever blacked out before this year, so I wonder if there's something wrong with me, you know?  Why does one black out?

If you pull too many G's you will start to black out.  I belive the average person starts to black out at around 6 G's

Sometimes I black out on the first loop on Batman: TR at SFGAdv.  It's kinda wierd.

Talon, right before the first loop in the back seat.  It was the second ride on that wonderful coaster.  First ride was in the front seat.  Was pretty kick ass, I did it agian.  No blackout
I haven't really blacked out on a rollercoaster, but the second loop on the Vortex@PKI always seems to give me a head rush.:)
I have blackout before. I was running thru my house  and I hit the top of doorframe. (I am almost 7'0) yep I blacked out then.
In the loops on Shockwave @ SFOT, during my 6th consecutive ride on it.
