Have any of you guys did the Dells?

I rearranged our June Coaster/Baseball trip to include a few days in Wisconsin Dells. It looks like tourist trap heaven ala Pigeon Forge, TN. I just love these kind a places. This will be our first trip to the Dells. I was able to get one of those hotels with a water park onsite, Wintergreen Resort. I was thinking that this should keep my family busy for a full day, give Lisa and I some time to just relax during this middle part of our trip. I also had it in mind to use these two days to help defray some of the expenses for awhile as I'll have to be able to afford at least one fill up of petrol in Wisconsin which I understand has the highest prices in the country. My older son has seen an add for Noah's Ark and is already wanting to go there. There appear to be many great attractions to help deflate ones wallet in a hurry in the Dells. I had seen Tommy Bartlett's Water Circus when I was a teenager in Pigeon Forge. I remember it as being a great show. One thing that does look very interesting to me is the Circus World Museum in Baraboo. Any of you guys ever been?

How about Big Chief's Cart and Coaster World. $33.00 bucks a person for ride all day would be $132.00 for my family of four. We do have the option of paying $5.00 per person per circuit, $20.00 for one ride on each coaster. For my family x 3 coasters would be $60.00. What do you think guys? For those of you who have ridden the "Greek trio", how do they rate? What are some of your not to miss things to do in the Dells?

Thanks in advance for any advice/opinions you can give me which always helps in making our trips more enjoyable.

Do, Big Chiefs all day and you can go to both parks. do some of the small rides like the ejection seat, there is a big skycoaster and bungee jumps. and make it to noah's ark. also any of the big resorts have awesome water parks. the new one at the kalhari is amazing, same with polonysian

Big chiefs is good I love the themepark across the street.

-------------
Georgia Scorcher...OH yeah it's fire baby!!!
I want to go up there again. I gotta ride the coasters up there.

-------------

Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.
Big Cheifs is worth the pricey ride all day pass. The coasters are SUPURB, and the go carts are a blast. There is also another small amusement park in the Dells, Riverview.

That's the one I was talking about it's a water park.

Riverview is part waterpark/part ride park with carnival type rides. yes gas is very expensive in Wis.,right now the cheapest in my area(milwaukee)is 1.83 a gallon. You would be better to gas up away from the dells as it is more expensive there and it is a tourist trap! Tommy Bartletts Water show is excellant and the last show of the night is usually better as they end with a lazer type show, also has a very good juggler in the pre-show. I have never been to the circus museum but have heard it is great! big Chiefs is ok they have 3 good wood coasters. Zeus and cyclone are good cci woodies and pegasus is more of a family/kids coaster but not too bad. If you plan spending alot of time there you would get your moneys worth.Be advised i think they have a daytime and nighttime pass but not certain its good for all day but i could be wrong. Noahs Ark is great and the best value for your money as they open at 10:oo am and close around 8:00pm and you can find coupons everywhere to save some money. Have a great time!

I just want to correct you on that. It is not cyclone, but Cyclops.

I didn't pay much attention to Riverview. I just went, took a ride on their steel coaster, and left. We had limited time. Is it primarily a water park?
They also have the coaster and a bunch of flats if I remember correctly.

I would say Cyclops ALONE is worth going to Big Chiefs in Wisconsin Dells. So is Zeus. Pegasus while it is nothing spectacular...it is great for a kiddie coaster. They also have WONDERFUL go kart tracks. Probly the best of any I have ever been on. The best way to go...if you can...is to get the $33 day pass (actually i think it is something like 6-8 hours of unlimited riding.) If you are an adrenaline junkie...then I highly recommend the slingshot type ride in front of Riverview. The rest of the park is mostly water slides and cheap carnival rides. IF you like that sort of thing check that out. I would recommend the Ducks...there are 2 but the better one is near Noahs Ark. If you like water parks...Noahs Ark is the worlds largest. But it can get very crowded. As stated before by others the Tommy Bartletts Ski Show is great. Avoid going to the Robot World. IT really was not worth the money IMO. Also the house where everything looks to be slightly tilted is kind a gimmick...not worth going to IMO. Also a little north of town there is a really kewl miniature railroad that might be an off kilter adventure. Nearby there is also the Circus World Museum and also a railroad museum with working steam engines...I think it is called North Freedom. Both are really spectacular.

Do any of you remember the fun house @ Riverview? That had to of been my favorite things there. But in maybe... 1999? I got in, went right to "it", and did not see it. Instead, I saw an information booth. Ouch. It is pretty fun though. Tilt-A-Whirl, Hymalia, Galaxy (only coaster), Sky Ride (I like those, too!), and a few others. When my family goes to the dells, we each get a water park/amusement park all day unlimited pass. I think they are only like.. $30? Which is not bad at all, for both of the 2! Also when you are there, you HAVE to do the Ducks. Those are really fun. And as far as Big Cheif's goes... I would pay per ride. I'm not too crazy about their coasters, nor do I feel they are safe/maintained. But that's just my opinion!
The only good rides (roller coasters) are Zues and Cyclops. So unless you like go-carts, don't spend your whole day at Big Chief. I think the prices are terrible!!!

Man, I wish I could get gas that cheap. Here in good old Chicagoland, the cheapest I've gotten it for months was $2.06.

The Dells is a great place for Theme Park/Coaster enthusiest like us. Big Chiefs roller coasters are just awesome. Zeus is still my favorite wooden I have been on. If you do go, make sure you ride Zeus at night. Make that the first thing on your list. It is such a great coaster. Cyclops is also very thrilling, but not as much as Zeus. Peaguses is just an average family wooden coaster. Big Chiefs Go Karts are awesome. If you like go karts, then that is the place to go.

Noah's Ark is an Ok water park. There is only one "scary" slide, which is my favorite, and that's the Plunge. You go on top of an 80 ft. hill (about) and you lay down on a mat, head first, and you take a small dip, and then you drop down the hill at a steep incline. The other rides are pretty good, I think it was worth the money I paid. But make sure you bring sandals, or else your feet will be no more...

The Dells has many other places with Go Karts, Minature Golf (which has a cool log flume ride), sky coasters, bungee jumps, and even a skyscraper. I would Highly suggest to go to the Dells.

Sorry, but me and my friends saw a brochure for that and the people looked like they had forced smiles on their faces. :)

Yeah Zues is great. We rode it at about 11 o'clock at night and they let us go 4 times around. Although I do admit I didn't feel real safe, granted it was 11 o'clock at night but one of the ride ops was smoking and the other began making the train move before we could even sit down in the train. A good ride reminds me a little of the Beast (one of the greatest rides at night) the way it goes into the forest, but if you don't have a lot of time and want to save money I would suggest going at night usually they will let you ride over and over again.

I disagree, if you get the all day pass, it is very well worth it. i rode the karts like 60 times and the coasters at least 15 times each, no line!! It is incredible. but single rides are the worst. it is like 6 bucks a ride!!!! Cyclops is so intense, you have to be 18 to ride in the back seat! Zeus is an awesome ride front and back.
