Howdy guys,

Long time Coaster Enthusiasts, noobie on here (although I have been to a few events in the past including Beast Buzz in 2004 and BooBuzz 2008...

I went to Haunted Conneaut Lake Park with 9 friends this past weekend and thought I would give a review...

1st off, it was very sad being at the park and not being able to ride the Blue Streak. I have been to CLP in the off season previously but always had opening weekend to look forward too...

since it is no longer open, my review will have spoilers...

There were 8 separate haunted houses... I forget all the names, but here is a review of them in the order the map took you...
1) kiddie land (I think it was called clown town)... rather boring, some clowns, and some chain saws...

2) fredy's house... a short haunted house, but had some good jumps and a room which is now my favorite part of any haunted house... this room was very dark with a few black lights. the walls were all black and there were the old style hockey masks like jason used in friday the thirteenth 2 on all over the walls... I made it about half way into this room with 3 others in my group for this one and suddenly one of the masks started floating off the wall towards ME... I thougth it was awesome and yelled COOL! (ya it was susposed to be scarry, but being an engineer, I thought it was cool) I blinked several times before I could see the person to which the mask was attached... as we were all distracted by mask dude #1, a second mask lunged towards us... Great job with this room...

3) butchers basement in the basement of hotel conneaut...
this was not very scarry, although it was dark and had use of many strobe lights which was rather bothersome....

4) haunted hotel conneaut ... this was in the upper levels of the hotel... again, not a great job overall, but did have a few good jumps... rather annoying was they way it was too dark to see and "monsters" would block the hallway attempting to scare those walking through... they just became a hazard for people trying to find their way...

5) Haunted Maze? (this was in the consession stands)
this was not well put together at all... the maze was very dark and had many trip hazzards... not scarry at all, just dangerous...

6) something after the haunted maze... another dark one... more trip hazards...

7) Devil's Den... again, dark, floor was unsafe and sank greatly as one walks through... there was a very loud horn which felt like a concussion blast... at one point, there was some sort of traffic jam as no one could see where to go...

8) The Fog... based in the dodgem car area...
Best overall haunted part of the park...
a walkway was created throughout the dodgem area by using chicken fence from the floor to the ceiling.
lots of fog made visibility about 2 feet...
in some areas, there were "monsters" on the other side of the fence, and in some areas, other people were on the other side of the fence walking through another part of the "chicken fence trail"...
This was very disorienting and caused people to walk very slowly... I passed many lost people... Not a scarry one, but very very fun!!!

Overall, I would give this an average rating... as I have been to better overall haunted houses, and I have been to worse overall haunted houses...
I must say, however for specific items, the mask room is my all time favorite, and the fog is the most fun one I have visited...

Would I do this event again in the future? as a date, no, but with a group of friends (around 10 or more)... definately...

Anyone else have the opprotunity to visit Haunted Conneaut Lake Park?

Later
Mike

I have been waiting for someone to finally post about Haunted CLP. Superposer Thanks for posting. I was never able to fit it in my schedule to go.... very disappointed I never made it. I had a couple of friends go and they absolutely loved it. They said the hotel was very scary and was the best part. They seemed to like it better than Superposer did. Well hopefully this will be the start of more things from this park.
